I have my amp set at one o clock on the normal EF86 channel of an ac30/4 clone, cut at 1 o clock. I am currently using a Rangemaster clone in hi mode for single note leads (would like to get a mid setting on there for chords), Timmy for mild overdrive and a Triangle Muff clone for a doomy wall of sound (with chords and clarity). Running it Treble Booster (full up) - Timmy (uncompressed symetrical, slight boost and gain compared to amp volume and gain) - Triangle Big Muff (volume 12 oclock, gain maxed and tone slightly rolling off top end). With treble booster and Timmy things are good, Treble Booster by itself great, Timmy by itself great but TB into big muff tends to attenuate/over compress the single note leads and lacks clarity. Is there another order I should use? Replace the Triangle big muff? I would really like to avoid tap dancing and go for a stacked sound if I can

have you tried rolling back your guitar's volume when you have both pedals on and/or using a lighter attack?

I have my amp set up so it only breaks up with a heavy pick attack. Rolling back the volume is a bit tricky with Jazzmaster as it really muds up with just a slight roll down on the volume. There is too much high end information for chords with the TB and the Big Muff is only good for chord work but gets lost in the mix with single note leads because it's lacking in mids. Will try and turn up the amp a bit and riding a volume pedal and see if that works

Muffs are awesome on their own, but imo they're a pain in the ass in a loud band. You could experiment with od's in front or after it, try an eq pedal, or even mod the muff,...But imo when it takes that much effort to make a pedal cut through a mix, it's time to replace the fucker

I know that plenty of succesful guitarists have proven me wrong, so it's probably just me...But imo there's just too many fuzz peds out there that sound good both on their own as well as in a full mix, I don't see the point in klinging on to a big muff...

Timmy>Muff>Treble Booster

Im with MEC. I think putting your treble booster after the Muff will have huge effect. Treble boosters are great tone shapers, and you said it yourself: everything's cool til you kick on the BMP. The treble booster will shape a scoopy BMP really well. The later in your chain the effect is, the more prominent its effect. Take advantage of your treble booster in this way. Gain staging is really tough and often takes trial and error to get the result you're looking for.
