Why no Freeze alternatives?

I wish I had the pedal knowhow to make myself one because both the freeze and super ego are lacking. I can just imagine one with a simple one-knob Reverb, a low pass filter knob, a mix knob, a fade time knob and a switch for latching or momentary. I mean, I guess I can do that with the superego, but it takes way too much real-state for the amount of effect, you know?

shit... it's not all of that but i know there's an old digital delay that has kind of a secret of being able to hold an instant while you still play. SHIT.

i'll think of it...

MASF Raptio? No latch though, but you can probably mod the bypass switch. Put it in a bigger enclosure with a verb and a lo pass. Tweaking the knob after holding the note makes it sound a little verby though. Not sure what it really does.

digitech DFX9. pretty sure it has a trick that will grab and hold the moment of what it's hearing and let you go on.

I was thinking of doing that mod with a Freeze and a Holy Grail, actually. But that requires tools I don't have and skills I've yet to learn.

Pretty sure homie killed the Raptio he already had.

Z-cat has a couple pedals with a hold option. Then things like the Cathedral.

What I want is an alternative to the Superego, specifically the Layer mode.... Gimme.

Yeah, the Z. Cat freeze verb is almost exactly what you describe here.

Yeah no. I wonder if a latch function can be modded.

It does have the possibility to switch between momentary and latching.

yes, including the annoying clicking of the repeat restarting over and over again :) same as the PDS series

I though it was just a reverb with a hold like the Old Blood pedals. If the dark star had a latching switch, with the pitch functions...

Not cheap, but the Strymon BigSky can do the hold thing in a couple different ways. Either via holding or with feedback on the reverb for a more ambient hold

Nah, it's rather a freeze with reverb, I'd say. Had access to one for a while, really good pedal. You can turn reverb all the way down and use it as a straight freeze, if my memory serves me right.
