So, whenever I go to look for wiring guides, they're always 4 conductor diagrams, and I'll be using 2 conductor.

My brain is useless at working this stuff out and the electronics is my weakest point, can anyone help me with the simplest diagram possible for a future build?

I'm making some assumptions on what actual parts you're aiming to use, for example, that switch diagram is based on using one of those leaf type switches that have both sides connected when the lever is in the center position, etc. All grounds (the upside down tree) must be connected to each other, and to the sleeve connection of your cable, and to any shielding you have in the cavity.
