Okay, so I used to live with this guy in the house I was best friends with. He wanted a laptop and I mention I have one. I warn him it's a little bit tatty, but if he really wants it. He says it's okay as long as it lasts a few months, he can probably fix it up himself. I sell it to him for 100 euros and a few xbox games. Of course he doesn't pay up immediately, I tell him to take it cool.
So eventually he gets sick of the house, a guy keeps stealing his food etc. and moves out. We make some vague arrangments to meet up at some point and he can pay me then, and I can get some stuff off it I never got a chance to grab before I gave it to him.
Some time goes by, I drop him a line. Have a brief chat about what's going on. Bring up the laptop Never get a response. He keeps adding girls on his facebook account. I make a few PMs and txts over the course of a month, no response. Eventually I up and ask what's going on to his comments page. No response. So then I finally loose it and say that he's basically run off without paying 100 euros, especially given why he left, that's pretty scammy.
Of course, NOW he replies. He says that the laptop I "sold" him(lol) burnt out "Months" ago(he's only been gone a little over 2 months, he made no mention of this fact to me) and he'd be 400 euros out of pocket replacing it, and that's "scammy". Tells me he's removing me from his friends and to only contact him by email. Also makes a point that he hasn't been around Cork in ages(when the place that he IS is a bout 20 minutes from a major stop on my train route, I've often tried to meet up with him but he couldn't be bothered going into town).
So okay, he burned out the laptop he traded me for a bunch of xbox 360 games he would have gotten less than 100 euros trading in for most likely, and he's blaming me? I don't know why it burnt out, but I suspect the dodgy power supply(I don't know how he broke it either) had something to do with it, I even offered to replace it but he said it was cool, he had some complicated way of wrapping it around to get it to work.
This is just insane. From his point of view, how can he possibly be in the right? I would have even let him off the payment if he'd at least kept in contact and told me. I can't believe such a "Nice guy" turned out to be a total prick. But I can't imagine anyone saying after having the whole situation elaborated and recited back to them saying "Oh yeah I was in the wrong". This is fucking insane. I suppose he'll use the excuse he left me some stuff that I didn't even particularly want when he was leaving(unloading his junk on me), when by the same merits he could have kept the stack of games I gave him.
At this stage, he's fecked off to France which is probably why he's taking the opportunity to be a dick and leave his past life behind. Of course he has to come home at some point in the next few months to visit, but he's not going to tell me this. I could have given the laptop to my mother instead but I gave it to him since it was a gaming laptop.
I am absolutely fucking sick of this. Everytime I try to be nice and it just seems to hit me in the face. I'm so tired of people screwing me over constantly.
