What fuzz do you use with a Vox AC?

I have a Vox AC10 incoming and I keep reading that ACs can be a little choosy. I would like to get a good Muff sound but I'm open to see what other fuzzes work well with Voxes. What have you found that seems to be a good fit?

All of them. Never had a problem running fuzz into my AC30. Don't believe everything you read. People are different and like different things. I've always disliked Fender amps for example. Too whimpy/thin sounding.

Never had a single problem running about every dirt/fuzz circuit you could imagine with my ac15 and 30. Character of the pedal always shines through. Pretty sure some people are just stupid, but dunno :idk:

My buddy uses an AC30 with an EQD dream crusher, cloven hoof and Catalinbread Manx, and they all sound fantastic. I am more in the "people are dumb" camp as well.

I'm also in the "any fuzz" camp. Never had a problem running anything into my AC30.

TAFM, Wooly Mammoth, BUZZ have all been good through my Vox style amp.
I see this "problem" on TGP lots but fuck knows what they are looking for.

Pfft, it's all about how it interacts with the crystal lattices and transparent overdrives, maaaan.

I think any fuzz that has a broad frequency spectrum sounds good through an AC. Fuzzhugger stuff sounds fucking godly through an AC. Stuff where you can eq stuff more radically tends to need more work with an AC. On my Elements I have a general sort of setting that sounds rad for most amps but poo on a Vox AC. But that just means you twist some knobs and it ends up good. But that setting in turn sounds poo on non-AC amps. I also think ACs can be a bit brutal on overdrives that are bright (but that's good, you just end up living in Jesus Lizard land) or mids-happy TS blues lawyer stuff which just sounds brutally honky. In a bad way. Not even the good Frank Zappa fixed Wah way. Just annoying.

But fuzz = all good!

Maybe I'm dumb, or maybe I'm not a true vox fan, but I personally prefer amps that are voiced somewhat plexi/bassman-like :idk:
At least when it comes to highish gain dirt pedals that is, cause I love an AC 30/15 when it's clean or slightly crunchy.

I agree with most of the sentiments here, I especially have similar experiences to goroth with different Vox style amps.

Fuzz is actually great with EL84 Vox style amps in my opinion.
Maybe not a Muff type fuzz per se, though something like a Pharaoh sounds great with my Valvetech Hayseed.

Distortions and non fuzz drive pedals tend to be a lot more difficult, like goroth said sometimes what sounds great on other amps will sound like crap on a Vox and vice versa.
I also think that the amps built by Vox are more tricky in this sense than for instance my Valvetech or a Matchless.

Yeah man. I had a Laney VC30 and that was was slightly tricky, but way less punishing than a real Vox.

BTW I love that amp. Wish I hadn't sold it.
