Bossa nova!

So in light of the success of the Shoegaze music thread and how awesome all of the bands are that you dudes turned me on to, I figured I'd see if any of you guys wanted to shoot the shit about some classic bossa nova albums
First of all, I'm not all that knowledgable about bossa nova but I do have this on vinyl:

And it's one of my favorite albums. It's absolutely gorgeous, all the melodies and rhythm and soft drumming patterns just craft a very pretty mosaic of sounds.
Your turn. Show me awesome music. go.

I don't know much about bossa nova, but that album cover is beautiful. I want that framed.

Go to a vinyl shop and look for it. It's a very popular record and it's very easy to frame the album covers. And you'll love the music, too. it's pretty fantastic.

This is really good Sev!!! You know the "Bossa Nova" that I've run across over the years had always made me not even give a shit about that style of music, but this album is pretty damn good. Thank you!

hey

that jazz samba album was my prescription
It's actually american bossa nova, but it's fucking fantastic, eh?

I do very much like sev's contributions, however. Definitely opened my eyes to the lyrical side of Bossa Nova. I always felt the melodies in Jazz Samba would be gorgeous if they had a voice to accompany them. I plan on going on a downloading spree very soon because I have a tenor saxophonist who would like to jam with me. My idea is to go all out and write some bossanova-inspired stuff with the tiniest touch of Miles Davis's Bitches Brew. Completely different things, I know, but I think it'll come out okay. This, of course, will require several hours of practice and readjustment to match the style, but I'm definitely up for the challenge.
Keep the music comin, people!

I deeply apologize, I was in another forum and just commented on something of his and I got confused who is who. I'm a little tired but refuse to go to bed because, well sleeping sucks. Sorry veteransdaypoppy and let me rephrase this: Thank you veteransdaypoppy for introducing me to this awesome album!!!
PS - Listen to Sun Ra if you like Bitches Brew. It's not Bossa Nova but it is some crazy jazz.
