Convince me (or not) to trade my DMM for a Timeline

I have a big box 2000's reissue DMM that's rarely ever used (I have an El Capistan on my board, and the DMM for studio use only). But GAS is hitting me hard, and I'm tempted to trade the DMM for a Strymon Timeline, which means I could also sell or trade my El Cap. Is this a terrible idea?

I regret selling my dmm. I had a 2000s-ish era reissue with mn3005s and nothing I've tried has that same sound... bouncy and warm, capable of slapback and washy ambience.

I'd buy a boss dd-500 for the weird stuff and keep what you've got

I had a "DMM" preset in the Timeline and it sounded like 98% close. But in a band situation, I couldn't hear the Timeline.
The preamp on the DMM is what makes it work wonderful IMO.
I'm able to replicate that more easy in the DD-500 thanks to the "110%" of the wet level, the EQ and the nature of Boss' delays repeats. But the modulation lacks a little bit.

My biggest problem with the El Cap is that it gets lost in a band mix, even with the boost up. This was my fear of trying the timeline, and I guess you confirmed that. Other than that, the El Cap is really great, and I actually set it very similarly to the DMM. I hesitate to put the DMM on my board because I don't want to tour with it. How do you find the DD-500 overall? I'm also tempted to order an Abominable Unholy Grail, solely because the boost might work better than the El Cap's.

Seems to be the consensus here

. It's been stashed in my closet for a while, and I only pull it out when I want to record. Def my favourite delay pedal, but again, I'm so hesitant to tour with it. I guess if anything, it's worth keeping from a collectors POV.
Has anyone ever powered a DMM on a PP2+ using two 12v outputs? And anyone here regularly gig/tour with one?

I should also mention, I got my DMM for 150$ Canadian dollars, which is about 115$ U.S

. Pretty sure the dude (and original owner) who sold it to me knew he could get more money, but didn't know how to use eBay (he was OLD).

I'm saving mine for recording/historical/reselling purposes too. It's huge and the 24v makes it unusable for my pedalboard right now.
But I made a mousepad of it to remind my self everyday that it's a fucking beautiful piece of gear lol.
Regarding Strymons getting lost in a band mix... Yes, that's Strymon's trve bypass-thru thing that I really can't stand.
And DD-500 overall is a beast. I could replicate all the presets I had in the Timeline in like a couple of hours and at the same time I could improve the sound. The feature set is extremely powerful, EQ is deep but can be overwhelming. Looper sucks.

Shit I have had desires to trade my TimeLine for a DMM, but the sheer usability and comfortable form factor make it a hard deal to commit to. I do have to run it with a really high mix to cut through in a band, but I got gravitate towards bright and clean-ish delays, so it's not too difficult.

The looper was such a disappointment, but the delay more than makes up for it.
The EQ gets even worse/better when you realize you can tie any of the EQ's parameters to how hard you're playing.

I know man, I've spent more time in the EQ section than on the cool parameters. Not funny.
But better have the EQ and not need it than no EQ at all.
The Pattern mode is a nightmare too, for better/worse.

I had a big box, sold it for a timeline, then sold the timeline for an xo which I plan to keep for good.
As stated above, you can get 98% of the way, but for my use, the timeline really lacked in the fluidity of rhythmic repeats. Things that i had written on the DMM didn't sound nearly as great on the timeline.
I think the timeline is cool if you want to play around with it a lot, but I only ended up using 3 presets so it was super overkill for me.
You will not be able to find the DMM in the timeline, so if thats what you dig, keep it.
If you like the DMM but are afraid to bring it on the road, check out the XO. Idc what anyone says, it sounds the same.

Don't do it. The dmm is awesome. You should free it from the closet though.

I know. I should be touring/playing with this sucker all the time. It's in such a good condition that I feel like a TGP, blues lawyer dick wad not wanting to dirty it up.
