Really?
That's bizarre.
I'm in if we dig up Peter Steele's corpse.
It should be green enough by now.

Yeah what the fuck is up with this? Why is Twitching Tongues popular? Why is it cool to like Slipknot again? I'm honestly so amazed and confused.

Can confirm the "cool to like Slipknot" bit in my neck of the woods.
I'm a high school teacher and let me tell you, everything old is new again.

I maintain the twitching tongues / nu metal thing is some older people playing some kind of joke. "Oh yeah, we TOTALLY loved this back in the day, this is the OG shit man". That's the only way I can understand it.
Either that or people are drawing the logical lines from shit like Quicksand and Disembodied but hey.

I blame the internet, horror movies, video games, rap music and Bob Dole
All I take away from this thread is I like Type O, but I don't need to hear a bunch of teeny versions of them...

Interesting. Can you elaborate? What other bands?

Well, not so much "bands" as "artists," as there are a lot of rappers in the mix, too. 2Pac is huge, Biggie is huge, and N.W.A. is huge. Especially since the release of
Straight Outta Compton. I don't know if it's just where I live or more spread out, but kids listen to those rappers more than they do current ones like Drake or Kendrick Lamar. As for the metal and rock side of the spectrum, I can't interest any of my students in new-school rock music, especially if it sounds even remotely experimental. Maybe that's just being a teenager? I dunno. We listen to music at break in my classroom and they abandon my iTunes, which has thousands of albums, in favour of YouTube, where it's '90s rap, Slipknot, AC/DC, System of a Down, Green Day, and Trivum. A lot of Trivium. All the metal kids stuck on Trivium. And Metallica. Metallica is huge.
Some of the cooler kids (yeah, teachers definitely rank the coolness of their students, LOL) have more varied taste, but man do kids listen to some shit, generally speaking. Like, fuckin' "Chaccaron." Over and over.
