Though we'd post this up here for anyone who might be interested in finding out a bit about what makes various pedal builders tick. Hi-Fives is a regular feature we've been doing that subjects the various folks behind the brands we carrying to a series of rather inane top five questions. We got a pretty varied cast of characters so far with another round starting up shortly.

The Hi-Fives are meant to just be a fun quick read, not actual interviews. We are currently working on a more in-depth interview feature series digging into exactly that, the how and why of how brands came to be. As we gear up towards those we'd love to hear people's opinions as to who they'd like to hear from.

Hirofumi from LAL and the MASF dudes. I know you don't carry their brands, but that's a minor inconvenience easily solved by you guys getting your japanoise on.

MASF is definitely a brand on our list that we'd love to get on board in the near future. We're still a fairly new, rather small operation so adding brands is a slow process for us. With each bit of growth we experience we aim to bring on a few new brands. Hopefully we can add them sooner than later (if they'll have us) at which point there would be a very interesting perspective to discuss for sure.

I honestly think it might be easier to get LAL signed up for distribution than MASF. LAL has been sold by Analogman, Analogue Haven, Perfect Circuit, and I think someone else way back when (can't remember)...but he used to be only direct and I think still does a lot of business that way. He also has a Russian distro too and I think one shop that carries LAL in Japan.

MASF seems to like exclusive distro channels. Tone Factor always says they are exclusive and NoiseFX hasn't restocked them since TF took over. In Japan everything seems to go through ninevolt. Good luck to you, man. Would be cool to get more exposure for these guys (even though they are already fairly well known and Hirofumi has been building since 1999 or earlier). They do no direct sales (except maybe the swan song...and eurorack?..but no real way to contact them).

Katanasound has no US distributer that I know of and make so pretty ok pedals (including a praised bass fuzz/distortion/drive). Their Venomous Snake Octavia is pretty good. Lightning Bear (with his new ghostwave) might be someone to look into to (as he is looking to expand it seems). There are so many good builders on here and glad that there are more distribution channels than there used to be.

I had read all these a while ago and posted them in our other builder interview thread (not focused specifically on this series) and enjoyed them.
