Decibel does this and i really enjoy reading it. Post a band/song/album that you know, deep down, is wrong and godawful then tell everyone why you like it. Don't just post pictures and shit like in the life changing albums thread though. Actually talk about it and shit. Also casecandy is limited to one post per page since the entire music forum is pretty much this thread for him.
DIMMU BORGIR - Enthrone Darkness Triumphant
Man i know i know but growing up in florida, unless i begged a ride to the FMP warehouse to annoy THORNS it was fucking hard as shit to see or hear any black metal you didn't order out of an add in METAL MANIACS. I got a promo VHS in the mail from red stream with an order (manowar double live i think, or NIFELHEIM) called BEAUTY IN DARKNESS and it had dime live at waken or eindhoven or some other euro power metal festival. Their performance was so sick and on point and astennus solos were so glorious and triumphant that i went out and ordered the album.
I staunchly believe there is no such thing as a guilty pleasure. As such, I've already openly and freely admitted to listening to Taylor Swift's 1989. There's no sense in justifying it.
On the other hand.... Blind Guardian is at least worth a mention in this thread.
Blind Guardian is a pretty cheesy, fantasy themed metal band. The singer has the voice of an angel. I don't know that I would have ever gotten into them if some nerdy friends hadn't decided to make me listen to it playing Risk one night. That was something like 14-15 years ago. They popped on Somewhere Far Beyond and I thought it was unreal. To this day I'm not wild over crazy sweet guitar solos but every single solo they have on this album is palatable. The album is full of every fantasy trope you can conceive so everything seems like a cool novel that I would read. Plus they reference Tolkien and Jordan's Wheel of Time and my love for fantasy awakes and I lap up every second of it.

Blind Guardian is awesome. No qualifiers necessary.
Demons and Wizards is awesome. It's like Iced Earth with good lyrics.
Yes. I just called Demons and Wizards lyrics "good".
And that Dimmu album is fucking excellent. That can most definitely not be said for their whole discography. In fact, that cannot be said for most of their discography. But that album is a perfect storm of symphonic black metal. And cheese.
Please keep posting awesome music dudez.

Who gives a fuck about what they listen to anymore? Shit like this bothers me now. Just enjoy shit.
I don't care if anyone knows I'm super into electro-pop and utaite music. Shits fucking catchy and fun. Going to the Perfume concert in NYC last November was the best thing I've ever been to. So much energy and fun and I danced my ass off for hours.

Haha. I definitely thought I was in the minority in this one. Glad to see Blind Guardian getting done love.
The Demons and Wizards album is pretty good, too, but I don't spin it nearly as often as I do a lot of Blind Guardian.

Tbh I prefer blind guardian too but any Hansi is good Hansi, and any Jon Schaeffer not allowed to write stupid civil war lyrics is good Jon Schaeffer.

I am way beyond trying/wanting to justify myself when it comes to liking "shitty" (pop) music, though I see the fun of this thread. I'm not about that weird fantasy metal though, you guys are all insane like probably believing in fairies and dragons and thinking your LARP sword skills are legendary.
I fucking love Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break". It's one of the best pop songs ever, or at least post-2000. So underrated.

This live version is also cool, check out those slick session player chops!

Another one of my faves, also with a heart-theme. Seeing a pattern here...

For me it's probably wavves. The whole band reaks of a 90s MTV movie, but I just dig it. His nihilistic lyrics freaking resonate on bad days and walls of power chord fuzz with almost no riff is just perfect for sitting there with a beer after work.
I honestly think that Vocaloid is a fantastic idea. While I don't enjoy most of the out from it, there are some songs that I fucking love, chiefly the one above. I've seen people not involved in music at all become hardcore dedicated musicians with hella ambitious projects for the fandom, which is also a plus.

+1000
it's almost the antithesis to western pop music when you think about it, where everything is driven by the image of the artist. with vocaloid you have a fixed virtual persona and the people creating the music aren't judged or gossiped about, i think that's pretty beautiful in it's own way. also a lot of even the more popular vocaloid producers (usually one person rather than a team of writers) are fucking wizards and the arrangements are super precise and complex and syncopated in all sorts of weird ways that you rarely ever see in pop music. i find it hilarious when people yak on about the artistic integrity of people who can only sing and have almost everything else done for them yet condemn vocal synthesis because it's not 'real'. we hear autotune/vocal correction on almost EVERYTHING nowadays even if you can't pick up on it so it's kind of stupid to listen to a 'real' pop artist and compliment their singing ability or such.

I just don't know, I guess there a few songs that I like that some people say I shouldn't for cheese factor or something but you know cheese is some times fun
