Help me with my Harvester build dudes...

So I put down the money and a harvester is happening. The only thing i am unsure of are the pickups. Id really like to go the route of getting funky ass vintage pickups rewound (or not) and put in. I would love to do three davoli pickups but the only guy i can find selling any wants $750 for two so i think that option is pretty well out. Id really love a couple teisco spectrums or something else suitably whacky. Anybody got any good leads or ideas???

Have you asked Anthony about that stuff? He's in contact with a few good winders so maybe one of them would be able to get a hold of vintage stuff you're looking for or maybe put together a recreation or something?
It's kinda shit trying to find cool old pickups that aren't being horrendously price gouged. Paying more than $500 or so for a pair of old pickups is pretty silly with the number of good boutique winders around that could easily match the sound.

not always cheap, but a pair of supro pickups (the ones that look like humbuckers) could be up your alley...

What about reaching out to a pickup artist like Curtis Novak or Jason Lollar to make exactly what you want?

Im not really talking about the sound as much as the look. Everything about harvesters is really unique and i just don't want to throw your standard options in there. My plan is to get some freaky ass vintage pickups and have them wound by curtis novak or whoever.

I'd still reach out to one of them. I just saw some amazing custom pickups styled after 1960's euro pickups. Don't want to name who made them, as I don't know if they are announced or public knowledge. Just saying custom builders could probably help you out more than you know. Anthony is using these in the one he's making for me...http://curtisnovak.com/pickups/Goldfoil-S.shtml

Dude, talk to Anthony about it and tell him what you want. He already works with great winders like Curtis Novak and TV Jones and will know what will work for your guitar. He also makes his own pickup covers, etc, so I'm sure he's just as concerned about the look of the pickups as you are. Let him sort it out for you.
And think about the kind of pickups you like and the sound you'd prefer. Singe coils or humbuckers? High output or low output? What's your favourite pickup in other guitars?
I pretty much went with the pups AP had in mind when he built my guitar, a set of custom wound single coils from Jerry Sentell that look great and sound incredible. Trust him - he knows what he's doing. :thumb:
