I love Kylesa. I mean I really, really love those guys. But, I wasn't much into their last album. I think that they focused too much on Laura singing, and the music wandered too far into psych. Hopefully this new record will be different.

Sounds ok. Static Tensions is pretty much a masterpiece, but haven't really been into anything they've done since.

I dug the last album a lot. Dig Kylesa a lot. Don't mind the psych at all as long as some of the heavy is still there. I'm a few tracks in and think that the heavy is still there. That said, lots of Laura singing which isn't bad but I think I liked her voice better on the last album.
Super fun band to watch live though. Excited to see them next month.

Yeah, mostly this. I don't know about the this album vs last album Laura vox, but I'm cool with it thus far. I feel like the psych and heavy are better balanced on this one, at least as far as I've gotten.
Cool on getting to see them! I'll have to keep my eyes on their tour schedule - I got to see them a few years back, and while their set was plagued with technical problems that night, it was still pretty great. Would definitely want to catch them again.
EDIT: Damn it, they're playing Boston on a Monday night. ARGH. And they have that Sunday unlisted - they should play Rhode Island then! Alas.

I've never really been a big Kylesa fan -- always enjoy it but never really reach for an album or anything, and this still doesn't move the needle.
JRMS are you going to Acid King @ zee Middle East? It's also on a Monday, but, uh, it's Acid King.

Yeah, it's not so far outside what they do that this one will move you if the last couple haven't.
GAWD what is it with shows I really want to see happening on days that suck? Um... I really want to go to that Acid King show. I really, really want to. What's your over/under, DoSsy?

110% going already bought tickets. It's AK and Gozu for like $20.

watching this band take two and a half hours to soundcheck every single pedal that they used for about 10 seconds each during their set has absolutely killed any interest in them for me. Which sucks because they put out some great stuff at one point.

this record creeped up on me. it's so psychedelic/groovy. kind of a trade off between the aggression and spaceyness, but I welcome it. the drum panning stuff is fucking epic. it's definitely something to fry along to..
saw them last night and a majority of their set list was static tensions/exhausting fire. fucking RAD. those 2 drummers are so on point & compliment each other so well. they also had like 4 epsom projectors. at one point laura's amp died and made the gnarliest starving fuzz sound as she played it into the ground..my friend was telling me about how much that moment meant to him & made his night. he actually cried? as he's telling my friend who filmed the show and I, laura comes up and demands he delete that part. apparently she played the wrong song in the beginning as well and didn't want anyone to see it..that was like a kick in the nuts!! I thought she was messing around but she was dead serious..kind of a sour note to end the night on. reminded me of when kathy from ctts was complaining on instagram about their new 400k house. all my heroes are dead. absolutely fucking epic show tho
here are some shitty pictures. I slept on getting all of the amps/bass board and other guitars
vocals
tabletop set up for the guitarist (there also a radio theremin on top of the skateboard guitar)
guitar 2
guitar 1
a couple of the amps
***I officially hate shimmer and the rainbow machine
