I hate that Every Time I Die gets lumped in with the rest of this. Hot Damn! is classic and I don't even care.

Um all of the above is classic so yes, you are correct

If Hot Damn! is a classic (it is) then The Artist In The Ambulance is a classic. Even D.o.S. claimed that "Thrice were tolerable" (Tue Jul 07, 2015 12:26 pm LOL) so if HE says it's tolerable, it must be good for other human beings

I liked thrice back in the day. Actually I felt like they got better after The Artist in the Ambulance. Vhiessu was weird but I liked it. Major/Minor was great, and Beggars was just as good.

Not exactly metalcore, but these breakdowns have a special place in my heart:

And onto the metalcore:

how can this one not make the list when he literally says "Just fuck that shit open this pit up" LOL

If we're pulling ETID, I'm going with Floater. Always the dopest live when they slow it down to a brutal trudge.

Sorry for being ignorant, but what the hell exactly makes a band "metalcore"...I know some of the bands on here but we just called 'em hardcore...I dunno, maybe I am old.

I'll save you from the Hirax...(all I know is crossover which is what the wikipedia desc of metalcore sounds like to me)

Agreed 100%. Vheissu is the best and Major/Minor is the definition of an overlooked record. The lyrics on Vheissu are seriously epic.
I've seen the flash of teeth
Conspiring with the reef
To sink our ship...

Can you see the sky turn red
As morning's light breaks over me?
For tonight we make a bed
At the bottom of the sea.
ANYWAY

THIS THREAD IS ALL THAT I WANTED IT TO BE AND MORE

HOW DID I MISS THIS CLASSIC IN OP

I was legitimately surprised that you didn't include that song.

Also, back to thrice, I totally forgot about the alchemy index. There were some really great songs in there.

It's really a shame that Dustin had to go all culty and join Mars Hill.

Case, I'm curious about your opinion on two bands: Glassjaw and The Blood Brothers. Discuss.

Many, many thoughts on that. I don't think that he holds any of the homophobic or misogynistic views of the church or its current leaders. I think he got into it for the P&W, which he does well. Mars Hill was founded by one of the most liberal pastors in America, Rob Bell, who declared that Hell doesn't exist and God just loves everybody in the end. Of course, that kind of hippy-dippy thinking led to clashes, and he left the church in 2011, after Dustin joined. His successor Mark Driscoll was just the worst (I don't wanna get into it but as usual Wikipedia has you covered), but he resigned last year and the new leader, Ed Dobson, is relatively progressive (openly gay son in the military, voted Obama because "it's closer to Jesus' teachings," etc.), and personally, I think DK was just waiting it out. Probably a lot of politics we're not privy to. Mars Hill is general is like a cult though, yes. Very toxic church culture, at least in the original Michigan one. Anyway, Please Come Home is a fantastic album. I cover "Blood & Wine" at virtually every open mic I play and I'm proud of it LOL
