Finally! A new-production MN3005 is available

You read that right, folks. A company in China (Xvive) has created a clone of the Panasonic MN3005 BBD and is selling them to suppliers and manufactures now. Smallbear had a small batch a couple days ago and already sold out.
I bought one before they rant out. It arrived yesterday and I put it in a DOD FX-90 I had laying around. Based on what I've heard from this one sample chip in this one test circuit, I am VERY impressed. I got a full 300ms of delay time with no nasty aliasing or clanky tones. To *my* ears, it sounds just like the old MN3005 that was in there just minutes before I swapped them.
I am very excited.

The street price at Smallbear is $22 per. There are already a couple of folks moving to order large quantities and offer them for a fair bit less, but Xvive told me that they won't have new stock to ship until mid-October. But the new-mojo is a'coming!
Any of you guys with smaller-sized pedal companies should feel free to get in touch with me about doing a group order so we can all save money. Not looking to get rich here, just looking to get into the minimum order quantity range direct from the factory to get that sweet-sweet price break. It's tough for an individual, but much easier if we team up. (must want at least 10 pieces)

Awesome! Might be interested!
How do these stack up to the cool audio ones? (i have some sitting around and never did anything with them)
But 22 per...geez. I don't know if I could blow 220 on something hypothetical at the moment...would have to get a design down...

CoolAudio's main chip is a clone of the MN3205. It's actually kinda crappy. Their MN3208 clone is better, but still not awesome.

The reason we're trying to do the group deal is so we can get the price per chip way down from $22. But you have to buy a lot to get into the cheap-price club, so having a group of guys who all want 10 or more makes it a lot easier all around.

I have both of the cool audio ones but haven't tested them (was just wondering about the quality of those versus these...I just got them last weak). But yea...I actually had a planed for MN3005s but haven't looked at it in a long time nor proto'd anything. And I know about bulk ordering, was just thinking outloud with dumb math haha.
But yea, I was supposed to build something for a friend and wanted to use MN3005s but picked up those cool audio chips to go that direction (but if they suck, I might jump on the train) [this thing is a long story but it was an original design that people got their opinions in and kind of ruined it until I went my own direction and threw out what they wanted...I don't know what a "bluesy delay" sounds like...but yea]. It wasn't for money or anything...just tinkering.
Might want to message UG; He was looking for MN3005s too.
If we get them down to below $15 each, you can count me in (might get 20 or more...obviously more if the price goes down).
Thanks man.

Xvive makes Mooer-style micro pedals. I'm interested to see what they're going to do with those.

Is your aim an order from the manufacturer/distributor, or a committed order in hopes of hitting a quantity discount from a resale shop? If smallbear is asking $22 per single, I would speculate they should be available for less than $10 each in quantity direct from source.
I wonder what the fallout rate is.
I've no running budget at the moment, but if this is going to drag out for a while I might like to toss a few bucks in. Can't commit at the moment, but the longer it runs, the more chance I'll bite.

Yeah.
Apparently, Howard Davis consulting with Xvive during at least some phase of development, and he (according to Xvive) designed or consulted on the design of their "Xvive Memory Analog Delay", which apparently is a rework of the DMM.
If they can actually pull of mass production, this is going to "change the game" in the analog delay world.

So, we'll get cheap Chinese built pedals which are actually analog instead of having a PT2399 and being labeled as "analog".

We did this (bulk purchase strategy) before with Coolaudio chips that have a $2,000 minimum order to make them available for hobbyists and small builders. We are doing this again for the Xvive MN3005 parts and got the price down to $18 for quantity 10 orders. We are taking pre-orders to reserve stock from the October production run .

Good to see these back in production. Didn't Cool Audio make some a few years back?

They made a clone of the MN3205, which has lower headroom. And their clone was kinda shitty. These newest clones of the MN3005 sound pretty good.
