Digitech XP300 Space Station Petition!

Hey guys!

I created a petition last night due to watching the PedalsAndEffects video interview of Tom Cram, head of Digitech/DOD etc. In it, he mentions that the Bass Whammy was updated due to the fact that someone created a petition and got around 2,000 signatures. I think a lot of us would love to see the Space Sation redone and affordable so that we all have a chance to get our hands on this weird but awesome noise maker.

If you haven't seen this pedal, please, Youtube it now.

Share on your social media groups and Instagram accounts! You can find me @NoizeNiche, on IG as well for updates. We can make this happen!

Everybody...

Just find any other XP unit on the cheap, and look up my bro Govmnt_Lacky at diystompboxes for a quote on changing it to an XP300. Better yet, have him convert it to an XP-ALL, and be done with it.

For the technically adept, here are the links to the conversion guide we put together a while back. The document is in two parts, pages 1 - 33, and pages 34 - 67;

Part one (pages 1 to 33);

Part two (pages 34 to 67);

By the time Digitech decides to reissue (if ever!), you can have your own XP.... anything.

Have you played with a Space Station?

I had the expression factory and it had one of the space station presets on it.
It was fucking incredible, and it wasn't even the real deal.
As others have said, in this age of rainbows and glitches and washy cloud noises of all descriptions, Digitech are certifiable for not reissuing this mofo.

Sorry, man I wasn't trying to be a dick, I just wasn't sure if you had and you weren't impressed.

They are titties.

The Space Station has 40 modes, and they're all over the place. The first ten or so are the "Synth Swell" modes, which sounds like an orchestra string section, playing different intervals from the note you play (octaves up, octaves down, fifths, thirds, etc). There are modes that do wacky delay effects, such as tape stop/reverse, pitch shifting delay, etc. There are bit crushers, ring modulators, resonators, sample and hold, and there's also a handful of arpeggiator modes. It's pretty fucking awesome honestly.

I wonder if an expression pedal-less reissue would be a viable idea. Cheaper to manufacture, at least. With exp input jack of course.

..Were the settings practical without the expression pedal? I can imagine that the synth swell probably wasn't.

Maybe an added control for expression sweep speed to simulate it.

i dunno what others think but personally even though i suck at using treadle pedals i think a space station without one would be pointless and frustrating to use. it's vital for the synth modes for sure, at least.
either way adding a cv jack would be awesome since thats a huge thing nowadays, but i think they would have to start it off in the same enclosure as the current whammy pedals for it to be feasible, then if they sold well enough maybe they'd consider making smaller, more limited versions like they did with the Drop and Luxe in regard to the Whammy V.

i agree with the whole getting other XP pedals modded to an XP-all if you want one thing, but there are ways it could be improved. the XP pedals still have way shittier bypass and treadle action than the current Whammy, and higher resolution AD/DA converters would probably be a good thing, not to mention MIDI and CV capability, and the originals use an annoying power supply.
the charm of it is the simplicity of the preset programs but those things i mentioned are all gonna deter people from using the XP pedals nowadays, they're such a hassle to integrate into larger pedal setups.

Some of the modes are OK without using the treadle, but the Synth Swell modes would be useless, as would be the tape warp modes. I mean, I'd be ok with it as long as it had expression input, but I'd say that most people don't have expression pedals on their boards, so that would hurt sales a lot.
