Lets hear it for them though. Without their constant derision and innsufferable pedantry no one would be scared enough to get good at anything.

I mean I feel like if there were noone there to shit on me and tell me to buy arise instead, then i would have purchased roots as my first sepultura album. As a result i can say with pride that ive never owned a copy of roots. Thats like saying ive never gotten gonorrhea, only its a true statement.

I remember the day I ordered my first burzum album. See this was in the 90s when varg had left full moon productions and before the deal with heathen front (you actually had to order burzum albums through a white power group with actual money ties to timothy mcveigh) so you had to order burzum stuff directly from misanthropy through their UK merchandiser razamatazz.

It was going to cost me every single cent i had ($50) to order it and take two months to get in, so i was hesitant, but the dude called me a pussy and suggested i would probably like a copy of the "shitty new metallica cd". I went with the burzum.

This is the same dude who called me a "total fucking faggot" for ordering the first agalloch cd and subsequently went on to play guitar in eighteen visions or something soooooooo

when it came out I thought so too, and I like the production but really.. if you really think about it… Roots is the only good song on roots… actually a lot of metalz of that time don't hold up… like Machinehead, Korn, Bioharard ECT and then what followed [Nu-metalz] just perpetuated the framework used on those albums from the mid 90's to 2000... :idk:

:p

rattamahatta > attitude > roots.

One of the first times I felt actually old was seeing some awful band like Throwdown cover roots completely unironically.

 and actually the cover of War was better than anything that made it on that album… same with Chaos… the two "covers" laid waste to the rest of the album.. Max needs to do a Donny & Marie tribute album.

Arise isn't as good as Roots, that might be why he said it.

I don't think that's actually true but I pretty much love everything Sepultura put out for their first 20 years or so, with Max after Max etc.
