so a few months back i got a ticket for driving and being on the phone (CA law yo)
totally, completely, utterly forgot about it
this morning i find out that because i never paid it theres a good chance theres a warrant for my arrest....

Yikes! Get that handled pronto.

yeah see heres the thing....
the bill was originally like $194 + a $50 processing fee + $100 class to get it off of my record + $20 something else

i was gonna use that money to go up to portland and bug devi for a few days next weekend.

is it bad that im considering eluding the police till i have the money post-portland trip?
dunno if i could do it tbh, but ive been lookin forward to this lil getaway for about a month now

my friend says i should just give em a huge sob story and get an extension that way but idk if i could do it at this point....

my cousin had a warrant out for his arrest because he couldn't find the municipal building to pay the ticket in ( ). he called his family lawyer and the guy took care of it. of course he had to pay the fine, but fuckin with the law is a no-no. I just think it's ridiculous that they can fucking arrest you or fuck up yer whole month 'cause you talked on a cell-phone while driving.

a slap on the wrist is one thing, but 200-300 bucks for a fucking kid is like brutal. especially if yer a college student, man, that's food money. thank you officer, for starving me for the next two weeks. hope you can afford your fucking gym membership and your taekwondo classes now.

Talking on the phone while driving (with or without a bluetooth/headset) is terribly dangerous...
I've been hit by an asshole on the phone before, but he got off because he had a bluetooth (legal in NY)

I've seen some pretty scary studies done of how much of your brain becomes preoccupied while talking on the phone, regardless if you have a headset.

most everyone i talk to is telling me to pay the damn fine, which they threw some icing on..some $200 dollar icing
so it comes out all together to like nearly $600
which to be entirely honest doesn't bother me all that much, i figure its a lesson learned...an expensive lesson but one that will through out life save me more than $600....
im just trying to keep a nice attitude about spending money i wasn't looking to spend really...

Pay the fine, unless you really want to spend a day (or more) in a holding tank with some very interesting people.

your original post brings to mind, I saw a girl blow through a red light while texting the other day.
Luckily there wasn't an accident.
I was at the MVA (whole nother rant) last month and every teenage girl waiting for her driving test was texting some body, some had to be called 2 or 3 times before they stopped and went up to the window.

No se como funciona esto en estados unidos, pero en españa al menos, si recurres lo suficiente una multa, al final expiran y no pueden reclarmártelas. Hay agencias que se dedican a hacer eso. Te cobran una pequeña tarifa de unos 50€ y te libras de una multa de 300. Pero claro, eso depende de como esté el sistema legal en estados unidos.


Anyway, i think that's toooooo much for that. 50$ as processing fee O___O thats insane!
