Hey guys, I really love Jawbreaker. Andy Greenwald once described Blake's voice as sounding "like a rusty corrugated pipe spewing sewage into the San Francisco Bay." He required surgery to remove polyps from his throat which I think is just swell. Admirable, really!

Then there's Titus Andronicus whose Patrick Stickles was recently described by Anthony Fantano as sounding "like a torture victim being forced to gargle acid," who seem to take no measures to clean up their live sound on record, and only get rougher and rawer with time. Me likey.

Okay so! Recommend me bands that sound like this. Not screaming, not yelling, growling. Gravel and rust all the way, baby...

Tom Waits (or goroth...)
SKV, like every "street punk" band in the last 20 years, Charged GBH, Anti-Nowhere League, Rancid (don't care that dudes were in OpIvy...they suck and always have...they've tried real hard to sound like the stuff I mentioned earlier)

YES! I'm more of a punk guy, but this is a PERFECT example. But obviously I know and love Lemmy

And I just saw them with Saxon on Saturday. Finally got my wife to go with me to see them (seen em several times).

Can't go wrong with Howlin' Wolf. Yes. This album is phenomenal and I've owned it since high school...
