Long story short.
I have a traynor bass master and I need a new cab.

I really prefer small and has to be 8 ohms.

I had a Hartke cab that I thought sounded good but that is gone now.

Doing research for a new cab has said nothing except that the yba1 does not have the actual head room for bass especially with louder bands. That being said the band I was in I always had an overdriven tone so head room was never an issue but now I am concerned about this as well but am unable to test it out.

I have a line on an Ampeg portaflex 115 for a decent price and was thinkin about that but not sure how they are as I read a lot of mixed reviews.

Lastly I'm not playing bass in a band currently and am not playin out too often so I'm really looking for something that's good for home but could also hang at a jam if I need too.

So should I grab the Ampeg?
Should I get another cab?
Should I scrap the rig and set something else?

What does ilf think?

I've got a B series Ampeg 1x15 cab that's really compact... Like 21x24x16 or so, with casters. Sounds great (loaded with an Eminence Big Ben) for bass or guitar with my OR-80. Now I'm wondering why I decided to sell it...

No complaints here from my PF115s. They keep up with whatever head I throw at them with 400 watts and sound good with overdrive.

The fliptop PF115 with the tweeter is just small enough to fit in the trunk of my car but the ported 115LF is too big and only fits in the back seat. So if size is the most important, go with the (slightly more expensive) fliptop version.

My only caveat is that the speaker doesn't really handle a sub-octave at high volumes. Learned that the hard way during a show. But a new Eminence speaker made it indestructible.

Try and find a used Acoustic B115 MKII. Might not be as compacted as most 1x15 but it comes with a horn you can turn off and you can get it for around $100 and it handles 450w (or something of that nature). It's currently holding me over with my AD200 nicely.
