So... not mine - but this just makes so much sense to me.
Why aren't more people with bigger boards doing this?













I dunno... I look at that, and I'd way rather lug that to and from shows, than my oversized Pedaltrain purse...

guitar cases sometimes don't have the height for pedals. Also there's the whole not really being braced and so possibly being unable to take the weight of a bunch of metal boxes and sagging/splitting in the middle.

But they're only for Boss and such... Middle ain't gonna crack but if you have that many pedlols how's that any different then a big board... A guitar case on the floor takes up a lot of room...

Hmmmm... I don't think I'd worry so much about weight - most cases are pretty well made these days - but I had wondered about the height for some pedals, too...
I was judging by the bass case I have. I can stuff a 125 Mini in the pocket compartment, shut that lid and close the case up without any trouble. I wouldn't suspect that would work as easily, with adding a back riser like that.

I dunno. I guess it just made sense to me, thinking of packing/loading in and having two cases that were same-ish size. I've seen smaller pedalboards made to fit in old luggage and such... just had never seen this executed and thought it was pretty well done.

This was 4 years ago. I had to build an In/Out box because the pedals were too recessed in the lid side. Bought an outdoor carpet mat from the hardware store and trimmed it to size, using liquid nails to secure it in place. Held hook-side velcro ok, but not quite as well as the normal loop-side velcro. I removed the three hinges and installed 3 latches to make the lid removable. Overall the project was fairly easy and cost effective, providing you have a spare hard case. But you could probably ask Craigslist if anyone has a hardcase they want to sell for $30-40. I believe I spent less than $40 at the hardware store. If I were ever to upsize my pedalboard I would do this again. The DIY hand built thing fits me better than fitting into the pedaltrain collective (which I have had 3 of those, by the way).

EDIT: Just realized I only own 3 of those things in picture, counting one power supply.

In addition to asking CL, call pawn shops or stop in. They usually have a pile of cases in the back, especially mom&pops.
