Cabinet Builders, recommendations, reviews...

All,
My cursory (and potentially lacking) search has led me nowhere, so here I am asking. Apologies if there's a thread about this somewhere else already.

I'm looking to get a 4x12 cabinet to use between (ABY) my Ceriatone and Hovercraft. I'm looking to hear what people think (specifically, if you've actually had experience with) about the various cabinet makers out there.

I've been looking at both Avatar and Sourmash, as well as potentially hitting up the Hovercraft folks about one of their cabs. Anyone have experience with those and potentially others? My main concerns are durability and flexibility. I normally like closed-back cabinets, but I'd entertain a cab that has the ability to do either (like my Egnater tourmaster) on a whim just for different sounds.

Anyone that can speak to any of this would be appreciated. :?:

I don't have input on any 4x12 you list (though I can report my Peavey has been robust as hell, if not a little wanting in terms of all important tone) but I'd be VERY careful about deploying a switching solution that can connect power amplifier outputs together (Y function). I'd also be terrified of a switch solution that can remove the load of an active tube amplifier without first killing it's input. Be careful, outputs are expensive (tubes AND transformers).

Of course, you may only intend on using one amp at a time and my worst case concern is unfounded. If so, you have my apologies, please understand I am surrounded by weirdos.

Thanks for the words of advice, and I'm fully aware of the dangers of switching amp outputs. Both amps would always likely stay plugged into the rear of the cab, since I would want it set up as a 2x2... one amp connected to one pair, one to the other. Outputs wouldn't be touching the ABY. The pedal stack and guitar output would route through the ABY and then to the amp inputs.

Trace is a baller and I wouldn't want to buy a cab from anyone else!

Avoid Avatar. Dave is a dick and their cabs are built like crap. I replaced my Avatars with better built and better looking Monotones (that were cheaper!) and sound oh so much better.

I hear the best Avatars are built by Mojotone, anyway. A lot of small amp builders use them for their cabs, apparently, usually with a fair markup. I gather Mojotone pricing for dealers/builders/repair shops is supposed to be a nice discount, so if you can swing that or have an in with somebody who will pass along the deal . . .

But Trace's cabs have been catching the eye.

Located in PA for the moment... South Carolina very shortly.

Thanks for all the recommendations. Dominion gets huge marks, so I'll start there.

That would mean that Dominion is also mostly local to you, which helps with shipping.

I'm too late and hugely biased since the builder is a good friend, but I can't help but put in a plug for Old Soul for anyone else on the hunt for a fantastic cab:
