Ya know, like the old Marshall SuperBass (shoulda never sold mine), and like my '72 Traynor YBA-1. I'm particularly interested in hearing from dudes who the same kind of head, with at least one bass and one guitar input. I know most Fenders also came/come with two inputs for the vibrato channel and two for the clean/regular/whatever channel, but don't work the same way.

Don't have my rig here at home to try stuff out for myself right now, and I'm curious what you guys have to say...

-Patch the Bass and Normal channels and blend them with the two volume controls. Oldest trick in the book, right?
-Patch both channels, but run a light od inbetween. Just read about this. Supposedly sounds 'different' than just running the dirt in front
-Use it as if it's two amps. Did this last night, sounded surprisingly different, and even better in a way. Different pedals for both signal chains, like as if I were rocking a stereo rig.

Did that with my Bassman 100 SF head. I ran the same signal to both sides and balanced the tone with the two volumes.

Tippically the two channels on blackface and silverface fenders are out of phase, so you can't play both channels at once. By moving two wires I think, you can put reverb and trem on both channels, which also puts the channels in phase, meaning you can jumper the channels like the old plexis and bassmans, or you can use an a-b/y switch.

I'm currently overhauling my 79 Vibrolux reverb, and I'll probably make this modification, which should be doubly cool because I revoiced the normal channel to tweed specs and turned the bright switch into a boost switch.

I think that's just with reverb models due to the reverb recovery section (half a 12AX7). I had pleasing results sticking dirt between the channels (I've an unmodified Quad Reverb) as some circuits invert polarity, bringing you back again.... and even when they don't & polarity is inverted, adjusting the "secondary" volume down can add to tonal range.

Number three is how I typically use my two channel amps (I have a YBA-1 as well). One channel for wet stuff like delay, reverb, or chorus sometime. The other dry for dirt/fuzz boxes and maybe phase if I want the dirt to swoosh around. Mix to taste

You're totally right, good catch. I was thinking that, I just forgot to type it

Some of the Bassman heads have out-of-phase channels despite lacking reverb. There are a bunch of circuits, and in blackface and silverface ones the tube chart sometimes indicates the wrong circuit.

You guys are blowing my mind. Why hadn't i thought of these ideas? Just been jumpering on my YBA-1A but now I have some experimenting to do!

I have a musicman hd130. Could I do this as well?

I would think so, since the HD130 is supposed to be closely related to the general Fender concept, right? Two channels, two seperate preamps...I'd say give it a try

Edit: Just now read the other Fender-related posts. Didn't know that. So yeah, not so sure anymore if it'll work on your HD130. Still, I doubt you'll break anything by trying...Right??

Yeah, I think I'm going with a simlilar approach from now on. Freeze and verb to one channel, stereo out of my delay going to both, and dirt/fuzz to the second channel. I'm liking that amp more and more every time I play it.

One thing I'm not used to that I love about the Traynor: It stays clean at ridiculous loud volume levels. Kinda surprised me, in a good way. I was worried a non-MV 45Watt head would start crunching at rehearsel levels. Sorta curious what that'd sound like though, I should probably for the hell of it try the attenuator i have laying around somewhere...
