Zvex Fuzzolo

Hi fuzz fiends!
Just happened upon this pedal, and normally I kind of steer away from Zvex and towards what I would consider the 'true' boutique pedals, but Z and Co. did kind of popularize the whole notion. I remember I bought a friend a SHO from Zvex, one of the earlier ones, when my friend's new Tele and amp just weren't coming to him; the SHO was the magic he needed to hear with the rest of his setup. OK, cool, so what does Zvex have in store for us now?
The Fuzzolo is deceptively simple and small. First off, this sucker is pretty loud. Nice big boost in the gain stages when you adjust the level; positioned at 12-o-clock it was still surprisingly loud into my rig. Secondly, I was expecting something, I dunno, not as raw and thick as the fuzz that came out of the Fuzzolo tonight. It sounded really good with my Mustang and SF Champ. Not nearly as compressed and flat as the demo on the Zvex site. I guess this just shows you really have to try something in *your own* setup to see if it will sound good.
So inquiring minds want to know, what is the circuit all about? Is the Fuzzolo a re-creation of an older circuit, a new take? Or something completely original (rare these days)? Seems to me like its setup as a PWM-type square wave fuzz, but there's definitely something else going on in there... Satisfy my curiosity: its light-years ahead of my soldering skills..
Anyway, if you didn't know, now you do; the Fuzzolo really rips. It cuts right through a mix with forward midrange.
