Single Use Gear

I'm sure I'm not the only board member who acquires gear with only one or two uses in mind. I was looking at my collection, which is a lot smaller than it used to be, and I have a few.

Ensoniq Mirage sampler: I got this purely to do the crowd noise sample during songs. I am a huge industrial nerd, so sampling crowd noises or power tools so I can randomly insert them into songs is a big thing for me. Previously, I did this with an iPhone into the pickups of my guitar.

Arturia Minilab: Similarly, I use the Minilab to do Vangelis style synth pads. My brain sounds like a mashup of Gary Numan, Nine Inch Nails, and the Bladerunner soundtrack.

Danelectro Cool Cat Fuzz: I never leave it on, I just sort of stomp it on for a second to get blasts of noise. I use it so much for this purpose that I am tempted to have someone build a Peach Fuzz clone with a temporary switch.

EDIT:

This is what I meant by crowd noise samples:

I have a metal slide to make SkweeglSkweeggleSkweegle sounds by scrubbing the strings because I can't sweep.

Seems like there's other stuff but I can't think of it now.

This may come off as blasphemy but I only use the count to five for fucked up sounding fast backward playing samples of my synths. But I use it for this a lot. A lot a lot.

I know you can do a lot with an E-Bow but I just lay the guitar down and Drooone... Also I mainly just use the CP-251 as a White Noise source and as awesome and capable as they are I really only use one setting on my El Cap and Cloudbuster...

I don't feel bad having stuff for only one use...

^ yes. I think I'm going to build a momentary fuzz with no knob now. Hit me up if you want one too ;-)
