ILOVEMANDOLINS?

Been itching to pick one up ever since I played a really shitty one at my local shop. Would love to have one with an electric pickup or two. My searches have been turning up pretty short, does anyone know of any reliable (stays in tune), affordable (less than 150) models out there?

I have a Rogue mandolin that stays in tune pretty well. I don't play it nearly as much as I'd like to since the tiny neck fucks with my wrist tho.

The rogue is not so bad and for $50 you don't feel bad about cutting holes in the top for a pickup or two!

Yeah, definitely. The one I have came with a ukelele too. I tuned that down to Bb or something like that, learned "Straight To Hell" and basically never touched it again tho.

Kings, if you want, I'll pull it out and record a quick demo for you. It won't help you much with you wanting it to be electric, but it's something?
Also, since you're in the US, Rondo has a mandolin with a pickup for $85. I know someone that bought one of their acoustics, and other than high action (not that it's a big deal, since the mandolin has one of those wooden tune-o-matic things), it was pretty nice iirc. Might be worth considering?

Never played one. So, couldn't tell you how well it stays in tune.

Yeah, that bigsby gives me a large boner.
No need to demo anything, but I appreciate the offer swordfish! Good to know that the rogue is money well spent. I'll probably slap an old strat pick up in it or something.

Maybe you can buy one of those neck mount pickups and bend the brackets so it'll fit on the mandolin neck?

Oh shit, I forgot that the Warren Ellis double neck exists. I'd love to get one of those eventually.

Okay, just pulled my mandolin out and tuned it so each set of strings is tuned to a power chord. I might try out different tunings and see what happens.
And yeah, on the Rogue, there's definitely enough space to mount a pickup without having to do too much routing. The most difficult bit would be adding a volume and/or tone + a jack from what I can see.
