Yeah, its dead, probably dead from when the term was coined and people started to copy the sounds of others. EITA was relevant but then the kind of collapsed on themselves and most post-rock stuff is all derivatives of them in ways.

But Mogwai stands as a band that is beyond the labels.

lets not forget this started with awesome bands like Tortoise and then suddenly everyone began equating 'post-rock' to 'crescendo-core' or whatever.

actually, kbi, you may think that Mogwai isn't that special, but Mogwai are actually very special. Let me tell you about it.

mogwai are motherfucking genius level. melodies so simple but executed so powerfully. pretty amazing.

Mono is alright. I do like them but they have that characteristic of just going on and on and on with some stuff. Yet they have some really well done stuff as well.

haha: 'Crescendo-core' I've never heard of that! And yeah; Tortoise is badass and they've always pushed things and done their own thing. And they're great fucking musicians - both technically and creatively.

i get what you mean but that statement is actually true about Godspeed and they're pretty well-loved around here/everywhere, so maybe thats not always a bad thing
