I've been working on this for a year and I am finally happy with it. Check it out?

I need to carve a chunk of time to listen under headphones, but initial thoughts are that this sounds awesome!

As if NMH wasn't already pretty fucked up

I really enjoyed this a lot! I don't like neutral milk, though I get the allusion, but I did pick up some Drag City/Silver Jews/Pavement vibes. I'd love to hear your ideas within a full band context sometime.

Thanks a ton guys! And full band context is happening now. I just needed to stop pussyfooting and finish this damn album first. I probably recorded 30 tracks and slowly whittled it down to 9.
And yeah, NMH is just the easiest, most common allusion. But def Silver Jews vibes. And someone told me it sounds like Carissa's Weird? I don't know about that, but I'll take it!

I enjoyed it pretty well, at the outset. But, then all the fucking/bastarding got a bit too beer-soaked for me. I woulda done a little more whittling. The first track, with the female vocals added, was really a standout, though.

I totally get that. Once I figured out what tracks I liked the most...out of around 30...the juxtaposed lyrics kinda got a bit repetitive. But I also felt odd rewriting and re-recording for cohesion. Something is just weird about that to me. Thanks!

For those curious about full band stuff, here is a more recent (kinda unfinished) track:

yeah, this is more or less what I was envisioning. Really cool, but now I have to mention another point of reference that's come up, to my ears at least - David Baker era (i.e. good) Mercury Rev.

I really like it. Just listened when buds came over talking about a new band we are working on, but I kept peeking up and being like "man, this is cool."

Thanks! And someone asked about effects but now their post is gone? Whatever the case, guitar was all out of the box w/ Fuck OD, maybe a green Muff here and there, some Fender spring verb, and some delay...either a DTSR, De7, or other variety of analog voiced. Vocals also went through this setup frequently via a harmonica mic.
