I saw this CD at Wal-Mart and was a little surprised! Not unpleasantly.

Just, like... you sell maybe a hundred CDs period and one of them is HOF lol

Im going to be honest and say that HOF bores the shit out of me. So does sleep. Everything matt pike does is boring to me, which is ironic because recent interviews indicate its just as boring to him.

This.

Vidret has me on a 3 step program to remedy the situation but it's not working. I'm enjoying the new album less than their older stuff.

:idk:

love Sleep, always thought holy mountain was boring, still throw dopesmoker on when I'm doing something else once a week or so. Have no desire to ever see them live ever again. HOF are a tracks, not albums band for me and always have been.

actually most all music is a tracks, not albums thing these days unless I put on some super pretentious limited pressing drone 2xlp while I'm doing work in the office. Fuck you attention span.

I am reserving judgement until I get the vinyl next week.

I don't give a fuck, card carrying Pike fanboy here.

You guys are really reading way much into it.
You could tell me you didn't care for Sleep/HoF because it didn't push your buttons or whatever, and that'd be cool, but to say it actively bores you is missing the whole point of it, I think.
HoF to me is like this long, drawn out, epic fantasy comic book, published over volumes.
Its full of so much ridiculous awesomeness that at first glance you could write it off as a cheese-fest, but that is kinda the point. There are so many very, very cheesy elements, that would normally be cringeworthy if attempted by a lesser band, that are just pulled off and delivered in the right way with enough technical kick assery its like an Arik Roper piece.
Yeah, OK, theres a dragon perched on a mushroom smoking a hookah, but fuck it looks good and damned it that just didn't become cool.

Plus riffs.
The man is a fucking riff-machine if nothing else.
