Lofi glitch sources

I know, I know, enough with the glitch. But.

I'm interested in creating randomly spaced crusty pops and blips under and around my gitaar noises.

Kinda like the dying amp crrkage on the Fuck OD.

Kinda like the little "record" cracklies on the Timeline or Hexe Melusine, though why I wanna trick my audience into thinking they're listening to an auld 78 :idk:

More like the alien telegraph codes and general space static infesting this demo of the Seppuku Memory Loss:

But the more the merrier when it comes to that kinda noise, as long as it can be adjusted to stay at the back of the stage and doesn't waltz its ham ass up front to inhale the scenery.

Also, not talking white or pink noise or anything else that fills in all the little spaces, not that there's anything wrong with that.

What else in gitpedal land can give me such wee timorous interrupters and merhumblegrumblers? :?:

You have a possessed: set the sample size small enough and make it so it does it not too often, then set the mix low and that's your ticket.

Echo Degrader

layering textures is basically all I've been using it for lately. sounds like a dying machine :)

Memory Loss + Echo Degrader is lo-fi glitchy soundscape heaven. It's heavy perpentual physical machinery meets textured stuttering chippery computer chaos. So good.

I'm sorry. I've been ampless for almost a week. Pedal abstinence.

I put a telephone mic on my cell phone and run it through an extra channel on my mixer for this. Any time someone texts me/I get a notification it gets weird glitchy things

You sound like me, UC. I'm going to go for the :joy: factor tonight with Possessed into Echo Degrader. I have to admit I've been enjoying them separately but I haven't conceptualized either as a source for the snap crackle and pop part of the lofi sound spectrum. I've been too focused on the overtly "digital" aspects of the Possessed to even try setting it up as a crackle source, and while the Echo Degrader brings the static and hiss in very pleasing quantity and quality, I haven't coaxed much snap crackle or pop from it. But since I've been so far content with it's warple and hsss, I haven't tried very hard for crackle.

As to Memory Loss, arrrrggghhh, I can't be buying the premium jawns....

Anything else to check good peoples?

Doesn't someone make a "shorting jack" simulator or someawt?

Fluhargling brillz...outstanding!

I do like that sound a celly makes when it is doing its private bidness--I can hear it through my amp even when the phone isn't making any overt sound and without any mic at all--its some kinda of radio interference--I want to loop'n'trigger that joint fo sho.

all of the sounds in the intro are the cell phone thing into a distortion pedal. It's a really interesting sound to use for sure!! I've been considering loading a sample of it into a looper and having it for quick samples

nice! the volca sample makes that sound too when u hold a phone close to it

also not sure if OP looking only pedals, but u can never forget about the KP3. does all this and everything more. so many things

Maybe check out the behringer rack that's called virtualizer (or fx2000?). It has something called vinylizer which is lofi, has pops and scratches and is also relatively cheap. Just thought it out it out there. I can however say that the memory loss kicks ass at this as well. A thing I've been interested in is a random wave shape tremolo, like the MWFX one, that should sound glitchy enough as well.

Also, I made a short video of five ways to glitch, watch if you want :)

Another nifty trick is using a looper that can do half speed.

Loop some twitchy tremolo picking on muted strings, half speed that B, and voila.

With this technique you control the end result, and you can throw the odd note in there too.
I have a clip that does this in the next KNOBS demo I'll have up this weekend :thumb:

Have someone build you a Test Pattern. Half of the thing is a broken shortwave on crack.

Run it through a LFO-enabled delay.

Tapes break, records spin, worlds end.
