Envelope cv generator

Simple question (I think?):

Is there a product out there that can take your electric instrument's output (amplitude envelope) and generate a control voltage from it? My idea would be to use it to convert a fixed filter w/cv expression input a la Minifooger Drive or Cyber Psychic into an envelope filter/touch wah.

I feel like we're getting close enough to gitaar fx convergence that this type of utility device could be viable on the market. I'm pretty sure this exists in modular world....

As always, thanks....

i am/was working on something like that, which also has trigger input (external). But there's the hot hand from source audio which is kinda similar and the env out of the moog filter

You rock, Adam...I should just pm you with these questions instead of bugging everyone else....

MF-101 and MF-107 have Env Out.
I remember trying it like so:
bass>buffer/splitter(1)>MF-107(env out)>Warped Vinyl(exp. input)
bass>buffer/splitter(2)>Warped Vinyl>amp
It was cool but rather subtle. I need to try it again.

Man-I've wanted an MF107, then they were discontinued and used prices got jacked up--should have hit that when it was still live and confusing sundry brotarists...thanks mang, love it when you post cuz you seem to be a knowledge source for the synthier side of guitar fxdom.... :)*

Can't you do this with the Philosopher King?

Hmm, need to look closer at that-I thought it created an envelope that you trigger with a footswitch press--I can already do that with the Moog Multipedal. :idk:

Wouldn't be the first time I fell short on fx features reading comprehension....

Ah--thanks man, it appears you can...totally whiffed on that. I thought it was passing through the cv input so you could sync up with another pedal....

Massive read the manual :picard:

Man that makes its massive footprint a little easier to take...Cyber Psychic may soon be coming off my b/s/t, lol.

Dandolin goin' down some neat paths! Think the problem with the standalone box would be the added box that your signal runs though to control another box which was my concern (it would probably be best in a setup with stereo outs early on in the chain so that it doesn't effect sounds and gets a good "look" at the signal...unless it did more stuff like the moogs...). It would be neat to see what Copilot comes up with.

Anyway, on a similar note, I didn't like the way the cv trigger/switch worked...going to work on it some more haha.

I don't think the MF107s envelope is all that "deep"...at least it doesn't seem to me. Let me got try it with the cyber psychic.

Philo King is DEEP. Lots of cool possibilities and I still kinda regret the flip, but once I realized where I was trying to make it go I just said fudge ya and got a Goatkeeper. But if someone was in to CV and/or trem and/or drone, it's a must try.

Hail and well met fellow traveller! If I work this thing right I'll be able to extend Albini's Harmonic Percolator Principle by an order of magnitude. FX pedals: for those mid-set spells when you just don't feel like playing, but you just can't walk off stage. Ladies and gentleman, sit back, relax, and enjoy this solo set by my pedalboard. It'll be here all week...

I'd love to hear more about the trigger box r&d. You should start a thread. :poke:  Y'know, with all that free time you have. Now that the kitchen is done. The kitchen is done, right?

BTW, I think your observation about signal chain sounds right. Lemme no how the 107/Slychic pairing works....

I've been kinda sneaking in time to work on stuff while "watching baseball" late at night haha. Kitchen is getting there, just waiting on the wall tile (to the ceiling!) to be made still.

Anyway, yeah the 107's env does nothing to the cyber psychic except maybe make it a tad less responsive. I wish my MF102 wasn't broken or i would try to do somethign with the LFO. I think it has to do with the voltages being sent in though. I think the cyber psychic just bypasses the pot for an external source and it kinda has to be in the same range which I doubt the MF107 is...

I first ran it in stereo (via a memory man stereo out to mf107 then env out to cyber psychic cv in. MM main out to CP to amp)...didn't do much.
I ran the cyber psychic first into the mf107 and then it's audio out to amp and env out to CP cv in...a little glitchy, but not worth it and kinda harsher.
Then I ran the CP after the MF107 the same connections except CP going to amp. Better, but I recorded it with both connected and unconnected CV...hissing might be the ac...don't know cause I didn't notice it at the time :idk: Sorry about the crap playing...just trying to trigger stuff (I say that, but you all know I suck by now haha)

I think the pairing of the two is freq-ing (sorry had to) awesome. CV-connected at 45 seconds in. Broke my pick early on in the video too. Man, youtube tore that video up...looked way better before I uploaded it.

I'd imagine the one on a MF101 or something would work better. I'll try the MF107 with some other CV stuff later (DSD-2, Trogotronic 669cv, MF104z, see what else I gots...). The thing that kinda sucks about the MF107 is that the env doesn't trigger when bypassed that I can tell.

Umm, back to cutting wood and Del Taco.

edit number 4 or something...Thinking about the way a cyber psychic works (and going for the random glitchy), I think an S+H would work better or a env controlled LFO (controlling speed) might be a better fit. For random sweeps of a cyber psychic, getting good at a foot pedal would probably be best. Maybe even constantly retapping into the Copilot Broadcast or something could get you some weirdness...

edit 5: used some of me paypal balance to finally take the plunge on a broadcast...so excited, finally remembered to order one! Esp. since goatkeeper went away.
