Etching! Custom work? Production pedals?

I'm working on a piece for an online site about etched pedals and ILF is my favorite place to start on article research...

Who does custom work? I know jwar (Acid Splash), Dan, Handsome Beard, and another dude (Unicorn Yak) who doesn't post here. Who else?

Any non-limited run production pedals? I know Dwarfcraft, Dunwich, Idiotbox, and SSBS have done etched runs but does anyone do etching for non-limited runs? Anything...gasp...mass-market being etched?

I <3 etching :bear:

What are you looking to do? I would be able to refer you to someone depending on that. :)

It's hard to say without enough info.

Dan W does etching, I do etching, Jonny does etching...and the two others as well. I'm sure there's more.

I must tell you though, my etching is a bit different because I no longer use acid even though I call my business Acid Splash. I now am strictly laser. Obviously that's going to change the outcome quite a bit. Some people want a different look than I can achieve or vice versa.

I'm pretty busy too, so I'd have to know specifics. :) Again, what is it, then I'll tell you who to go to.

Also, on the mass market, I can produce several hundred cases in a week. It just depends on the graphic, paint and a few other factors.

For super mass produced you'd be looking into someone with quite a bit larger space and machine than what I have.

I think he's just doing research for an article. Not doing any production.

Well, if I can help, I'm more than happy to! I love talking about the business as much as I enjoy being in it. :)

On that. Douglas from Darkglass recently had 400 cases etched by a company in Finland. All laser etched. That's probably as close to mass produced as I've seen with etching so far.

Forum member Laowiz, as The Out Sound, does my favorite etches. But he does them on his own time in his own way. Not exactly custom and definitely not mass market.

Currently they are all engraved I believe, but they used to mostly be etched.

I'm a nobody that does design and etching for myself but I have been thinking about offering some small scale (really small scale haha) custom work to fund some of my other projects. I chemical etched all of this stuff on my board:

dminner really does some nice etchings. Jwar too. You can really tell the difference between the acid and laser.
