Help needed w/ squeaky-ass VP Jr. (Pls + Thx)

Hey there!

Recently I bought an Ernie Ball VP Jr. pedal, specifically, the buffer modded version from This1sMyne effects.

Love the pedal and no problems... except one.

When I rock the treadle back and forth, the string squeeeeeeeeeeks.

Like a mouse on steroids.

It's making recording a real bitch because it's actually faintly perceptible even over 100 solid state watts. :thumb:

How the heck can I fix this?

Oil or grease, perchance? WD40?

I don't want to fuck up my most useful pedal!

Thanks in advance!

You could try white lithium grease like they use on garage doors. It doesn't attract dirt like wd40. I've never used a pedal with the Ernie ball string though. Put batts of insulation or a blanket around it?

You could rub a bar of soap on the string. Helps a sqeaky fan belt on a car sometimes.

I have used a tiny drop of canola cooking oil on each side of the pivot point on my wah pedal before. It hasn't squeaked since.
