an original sunn model t is just a fender bassman with 4 times the output power
uhhhh
the reason you see so many 18 watt tube amplifiers is because a drum kit, when played loudly, equates to ~18 watts of a tube amp's power.

Two things I didn't know.

I know I seem easy right now, but bring it.

sunn was the first company to develop high wattage, low resistance bass amplifiers (the first company to make a bass amp to run at 2 ohms).
they were developed by the bass player of the kingsmen and his brother (the band that wrote louie louie).
woodstock '69 used only sunn and ampeg amps on stage because the truck that had all of the band's amplifiers on them broke down. So the coordinators bought out the stock of nearly every music store in the tri-state area - sunn and ampeg amps were cheaper than fender & magnatone amps of the time, and they needed a whole bunch of them.
dont buy sunn cabinets. it's like buying a used ferrari. people buy ferrari's to drive them fast and because of that their engines suffer by the time the next person gets it. buying a sunn cabinet most of the time is just about aesthetics as one or most of the speakers in them are completely blown.
ALSO! the guy that invented the orange julius was also the same person to invent a diaper for carrier pigeons.

The name of my high school band was THC (Three High Children). There were 4 of us.

An easy one:
A 100w amp is not 2x loud than a 50w. It's only 3dB "louder".

you take the url with
https://www.blabla and repaste it without the 's' in https. i don;t know why this is so but the "s" means "secure" so it's possible that ilf does not count as as secure place to watch youtube.

^Thanks for the lob ramonovski man.

Something I knew!

Plant a stake to mark the boundaries of my ignorance.
Now if somebody could tell me something about why it is that tube watts are supposed to be louder than ss watts.
Ugly Nora, I like that band name much better than my high school band name. But I'm pretty much a sucker for anything with thee substituting for the...and then reading comprehension kicks in. Erm. I still like that name better than my high school band name.
tremulant, I knew some of that Sunn lore, but not all; but that orange pigeon named Julius wearing diapers?

Well, I know that tubes deliver more even harmonics than a SS circuit and that the human ears are more "responsive" and sensitive to that signal. I'm not sure if it's actually "louder", it's the way our ears perceive that "mellow" sound.
But let's wait for the expert.
