What's the Best Expression Pedal for Expressioning?

I've got a Judder, CT5 & Misty Cave on the way and no expression pedal. :wha?:

It's mostly for home use so are the cheap plastic looking ones (Moog, Behringer) okay?
Is the Pigtronix Dual Expression Pedal worth a shit or a waste of time?
What expression pedal do you doods like and why?

I've got questions. I need answers.

Not sure about the Judder or CT5 but the Misty Cave requires a 10k pot expression pedal. So you're fairly limited in that respect. EV5 will work on that.

I'm waiting for the new source audio one.
3 outputs. Waveshapes. Presets.
I didn't know the Misty Cave was a 10k pot and I dunno what that source audio one has off the top of my head, but I have other stuff I'd rather expression if it comes down to that.

I had the Mission Engineering one, which is like the pigtronix metal chassis one. Got a Moog EP3 or whatever it's called. Sold the ME and have never looked back. I bring it with me to practice all the time. You've got to be fairly butterfingered for the plastic chassis to be a problem. To me, it's only lighter and cheaper. Some pedals require 10k though...sooo, check your pedals first.

EP3 is really sturdy IME, and it worked great with my CT5's when I had them. The MWFX Judder site blurb makes it sound like the EP3 will work there, too, but I don't actually know.

(I'll be on pins and needles until MWFX gets back to me with a shipping notice :erm: )

Any word on this? I heard pre orders were supposed to go up but haven't seen anything.

Alesis, Yamaha, Behringer (surprisingly) are awesome.

Moog, Boss, Line6 are not.

I think I remember reading that the Reflex would be two 10k ohm and a 50k ohm stock, but that they would sell socketed boards with different resistors for people with different needs. Maybe I just dreamed that...

I read this a few days ago on tgp.

It's very close to being released, we actually have units in our warehouse, but Jesse our head engineer needs to give them that final "fine toothed comb" treatment before we start shipping. The last few weeks we've been very involved in getting the Vertigo Tremolo ready to hit the street, so the Reflex was pushed back a bit. Right now we're shooting for a June release.

Thanks for pre-ordering - we promise it will be worth the wait. Thanks for calling attention to the outdated website text :jo - I'll take care of it.

Currently using a spring-loaded Mission EP25 for my RP360, Pitchfactor, Eclipse, and Fireworx. The spring action takes some getting used to, but there are some things I like it for now. I will be getting one of the Source Audio ones for sure. Waveshapes into RP360 Whammy = Super Harpeggiator Plus.

Awesome, thanks for the quote!

I need to go and figure out expression values now.

Found it! But it looks like only a possible feature, no guarantees.

Quoted from Talkbass:
TheSleeve wrote:In the current design, the three expression outputs are 10k, 10k, and 50k. The taper can be adjusted between linear and logarithmic using the user interface built into the hardware.

Based on our research, 10k is the most universal option and works with the most third-party equipment, but there are some pedals that work better with 50k, so that's how we arrived at this decision.

In the interest of future-proofing the design, the circuit board that contains the pots and switches is attached to the main board with a snap connector, which makes it easy to swap out - no soldering required. So, if we find that there is a demand for different values (like 100k), we could potentially make other replacement boards available, and the boards could be swapped using nothing more than a screwdriver.

Feedback on this topic is, as always, welcome!
