Seppuku FX Icy Waters

I've been looking at this pedal (more like drooling), but currently cannot afford it.

Does anyone have any pics of its innards? I've dabbled in circuit bending in the past and I'm curious if I could recreate it for a lot less.

there was a pic of the guts in the Seppuku Fx thread that's gone now. i'd be pretty bummed if i paid $297.00 for a modded sub $50.00 pedal.

I took the pictures down. The circuit bend is awesome and makes it sound NOTHING like the NuX. It's basically a completely different pedal. Nothing sounds like it. If that's not worth your money, i don't know what is. Recommended, for sure. :)

Is it the time core or the mod core?

have you had a NUX? you're starting sound like the JanRay owners on TGP that wont believe their $400 pedal is a Timmy.

the pedal is SMD construction, the mods to it are going to be super basic.

I don't have any problem with circuit bending, Seppuku, being inspired by something, or wanting to go the DIY route. But asking for gut shots of a circuit bend kind of sours the spirit of circuit bending doesn't it? Why copy his bends? Make your own. Go in there and figure it out. Do something different. Maybe you'll get to the same place, another sound you like more, or even make an awesome Delay Time Feedback Synth, but don't freaking copy what someone else is doing.

No reason to go after UC, either. He likes his pedal. He does cool stuff with it. So what? It's his choice, man.

Circuit bend both NUX pedals and see what you find.

Ah, the quandary. To me that pedal absolutely SOUNDS like $300, say whatever you want about my ears. But my eyes and cynical brain absolutely prohibit me from spending $300 on such a rank jury-rigged looking jawn. Taste the contradiction. Wish I knew jack about circuit bending.

Everybody sing:

We know there is a world of fx
We know you have your choice of fx
But there is only just one great Lofi Warble FX!

Taste the bend, taste the hack, taste the SMD
Seppuku FX Digital H2O!

Circuit-bending
Micro-soldering
Hand-painting and friends and fun
For one magic weekend
Come on!

Bent Digi Delay (taste the bend)
Bent Digi Delay (taste the lead)
Bent Digi Delay (taste the flux)
Bent Digi Delay (taste the contradiction)
Seppuku FX!

Haha, I actually bought a TimeCore to bend but still haven't gotten to it. It's more fun to figure out neat stuff than copy though. The I.C. Water or whatever is kind of inspirational.

I have a NUX Time Core and spent a few hours with the pcb exposed and some crocodile clips for shorting various solder pads. Lots of weirdness going on in there. I haven't done any permanent mods to yet it because it's super tight in there and the build quality makes dismantling a one way ticket to recycling ...

How is that a fair comparison? The Paul C and Vemuram sound/are identical.

Have you even heard the NUX and the Digital/IC Water?

Have a listen, mate. I'm all in for a good discussion, but that comparison makes no sense. For the sake of analogies, let's say the The Paul C and Vemuram are both chicken soups, right? The difference being that one is served in a wooden bowl and other other in a fancy porcelain bowl. The NUX is like a flatbread, and Rhys added some tomato sauce and some cheese. Seems simple, right? Well, what do you want? A piece of bread, or pizza? :snax:

I actually got mine apart with a bit of trouble. The switch is one place that is really wonky and I don't think that I will ever get that aligned again. I kept feeling like I was going to crack it, but I found the right spot and it just popped out. It should be fun to mess with someday....

two pots tacked on to the circuit board does not make it different pedal.

Me too.

Oh, yaz, preach it Brother Cas.

WTF, though, why is it so TGP up in here.

Me. if someone Secret Santa'd me an IC Water, I'd slap it it on my board faster than you can say Ride me, Sandy.

Jan Ray? Not on your life--flipsville is that'a'way.

This thread needs more bend, less over.
