this is my first venture into tube territory
need suggestions for a 1-20 watt tube head

basically this thing will be played loud as an acoustic
you know,kickin back,strumming during commercials
most of the time no pedals
maybe new ones that come inthe mail tryout
but board stays downstairs in the dungeon
this is to practice playing actual guitar on
under $500 is realistic
but i dont want that to cramp the discussion
you may be able to talk me into a mini-mat
if you got somethin for sale PM me
suggestions ive gotten so far
(in order of likeleyhood ill actually buy it)
orange tiny terror(#1 choice right now)
vht special 6(highly mod-able and cheap)
vox night train(zz top)
randall diavlo
epiphone valve JR
marshall haze
jet city pico
biyang WANGS
bugera
looking for/buy in a second/porno
mini-mat
hovercraft
accoustic old tube

I can't suggest a Reeves Custom 12 enough but it will probably be closer to $600.
There's also an interesting one in the B/S/T:

I don't have any experience with it but it looks kind of cool .

Fender Pro Jr is another good option, has a speaker out and such. It sounds way more Marshally than like a Fender though

rooster looks mad cool
for what im doing anything would work really
and that rooster would make molly super happy
as apose to just dealing with an amp in the living room
im not partial to fender or marshall
its my anti corporation nonsense from teenage punk shittyness
i know its rediculous and makes no sense
but that said i was looking at the marshall haze line
ive always dug the look, simplicity and price of valve jr
i should say the tiny terror was top of list because:
a)varity of sounds
b)it can pump if need be
c)orange in my house would upgrade my gear status
i actually considered dual terror to get more power obtions but $$$
anyone have experience with the 1w micro?
and how easy are T.terror to fix and mod?
also Dark Terror?
and to not confuse peeps that dont know me
i currently own 7 solid state amps
from 15 to 300 watts
this is a treat to myself
and i wanna see if the tube life is for me
i said that to not turn into a tube vs SS vs modeling argument

i really wanna hear from anyone
whos tried a vox night train or jet city pico
id love to cross those off my list
or move them to to the top
ive tried the vht special 6
the stock sound is kinda what im lookin for
id like to be able to get more crunch and palm mutes
the vht is easily mod-able
im leaning towards that right now
blackstar?

The Micro Terror is 20W. Solid state, power. Tube, pre. I use one with a 1X12, as my bedroom rig, and love it. Plenty loud. It will push my 4X12. Something of a one trick pony, but it does that trick really well. Nice gain tone. Not a lot of clean headroom.

ahh i was under impression it had some clean
so it goes right to the overdriven orange sound?
do you use it with alot of pedals or solo?
im ok with not havin to use a dirt pedal
be nice if i could if i wanted to though

I do use pedals with it. There is some clean, just not much. I begin hearing the gain around 10:30. It starts to roar around 12.
edit:
Ya know, if you want a tube amp you want it for the tone it imparts, right? Can't get mad at it for doin' that. If I wanna play my pedals loud and clean, I go to my 120W solid state.

Check out the egnater tweaker. I was gonna get a tt for this, but the tweaker is cheaper, sounds better and is way more flexible. It's not the sexiest choice, but they really are pretty great. You can also swap in any octal power amp tube without rebiasing,so it's great for tube rolling if you're into that. Less than 400 used.

The Vox Night Train is great. The cleans are highly usable but not terribly exciting, that lead switch those is really awesome for such a small amp. All small amps will have issues producing big, tight low end because they just don't have the headroom but some people like the undefined roundness of small amp pushed hard. It's also really cheap and quit loud. I prefer solid state amps for my TV amps since the lows stay more solid (I use a Beta Lead) and they sound fine at super low volume and I can crank it up when I need to. I also like the Mesa 1x12 Thiele cabs with EV's so I can have the option of playing loud if I want to since that cab can handle just about anything

I've got the Ampeg GVT5. It doesn't do fizzy preamp gain but, volume full up, the power amp rumble is really nice. But even at half power, that's a lot louder than an acoustic guitar...
It's a simple amp, volume, treble, bass, half power switch. Sounds good no matter what you do.
List $350 but they blow them out sometimes at $150.
