Generally any MXR before the mid '80's is excellent... I've never played a carbon copy except at gc but I really want one and also the Submachine... Look for old ones and be sure to get an old Phase 90 and Distorton +... Any of the huge ones with the built in cord are titzzz... The Phase 100 and the Kerry King Eq rule hard too...

Blue Box, Distortion+, Carbon Copy, Phase 90, Dyna Comp and the EQs are all pretty good.

Are the new Distortion +s a total write off?

They're all pretty legit pedals. The Distortion + with a mod to have led clipping is a great cheap pedal to have in the arsenal.

Q-zone! Not the gaudy KK version though, with the douchy graphics :s
And yeah, pretty much all MXR peds rule imo. I'm GASsing hard for the Bass Compressor these days, too bad it's kinda pricey for something that's not a fuzz or delay :s

For the money, the 10band eq seems pretty hard to beat too imo, it would make a lot of sense in my chain.

The Carbon Copy gets a lot of love, and for good reason I'm sure...But I personally prefer EHX or Ibanez when it comes to analog delay.

This ^^^ LED clipping in these sounds so good!
I picked up one of the script reissues and I've been getting the itch to swap out the germs for LEDs. I may go with a toggle, to switch between the two though - I am a fan of the fizzzzzzzzz

The Kerry King EQ is their regular 10 band, but in stereo. If you don't need that capability the 10 band will do just fine. It's one of my "always on" pedals... I think it may be my only "always on" with a couple of others "almost always on"...
:!!!:

Haha my 10-band is always on...the floor not plugged in  (but not because it's bad)
The bass octave deluxe is cool too

Super Badass distortion is really good from the newer stuff. I'm interested in La Machine, but without the octave on a footswitch, I don't think I could find as much use with it. I have always liked MXR though, they make great products, and I like the utilitarian look. I don't have one, but the micro chorus is good for a go-to easy chorus effect.

Edit: In refreshing my memory on their product line, it looks like they are making a nice isolated power supply.

My main dirt is an old block logo distortion+ that I modded for asymmetric clipping and changed the output resistor to get a bit more volume. I love that little yellow bastard.

I was disappointed with the super badass, but I don't think it was the pedal's fault...I wanted metal and should have gotten the Full Bore instead. I had lots of fun with the Blue Box though, both before and after mods.

I've heard good things about the Classic 108 Fuzz but I never found a used one when I was looking for fuzz (I tend to buy used).
