Trem before or after reverb? Make your case

Hi all,

This is totally a "try it both ways and see what you like" thing, and I will be doing that, but I am curious what other people's opinions are:

1. Trem before reverb means that you can get reverb on the entire sound coming from the board before (in my case, at least, all the other modulation comes before the tremolo)
2. Trem after reverb means you can chop up the reverb trails.

I'm also gonna be using this with an Afterneath, which is such an odd delay+reverb ping-pong-balls-sound thing that I'm not sure where it'll end up. Further complicating it is that my tap tempo tremolo is a giant dual effect from Dirge with a Shinei Companion Fuzz (super LOUD) before it, which I want closer to the beginning of the chain if possible because it means the fuzz comes after other modulation (and because of its loudness, kind of wish I had a volume pedal in-between for)

Reverb before anything sounds super weird to me in real life as far as my own playing goes.

I'll add in to the mix that I've got an RRR at the beginning of my chain because it sounds brilliant before dirt.

I like trem before reverb because the chops get tails and seem super lively. Also, I use a really simple dub-type reverb.

TremVerb on the Space is my favorite Tremolo + Reverb combo.

I like both ways, that's why I used to have tremolo pedal -> reverb pedal -> tremolo on the amp.

I vote sandwich.

Verb->dirt->trem->dirt->verb.

Best of all worlds.

Your Afterneath should be there tomorrow BTW. Sent it yesterday.

RRR after trem is such an awesome combination. Unless the Afterneath sounds super rad getting all chopped up with trem after, I'd go trem>RRR>dirt>Afterneath. Although to be fair that's pretty well how my signal chain is, with the exception of the BitQuest for the Afterneath, so I'm kinda biased here.

Even though you lose the hardest of chops, I like trem before dirt as the volume changes affect the gain structure of the following dirt which is an exceedingly minor, but quite lovely, little touch.

I like trem last. I want the entire signal to turn on and off.

I sandwich mine, but generally I like it after reverb. Random tremolo shape (dunno of any standalone pedal has this) after reverb, like the Tremverb algorithm on the Eventide space, sounds super cool.

Edit: if you dont have other post dirt modulation, stick the monster towards the end. Modulation -> dirt can be sweet.
