Yeah, it's not the chips themselves. (Chips are pretty tasty, especially if they're made from potatoes.) It's how you use 'em.

$100 for an RFID chip? The last library I worked at didn't like paying 75 cents for them. I guess you're actually paying for the service of having them call around to the pawn shops?

Sonic Youth, Bootsy, and dozens of other musicians could've used these. It'd be really good for people who can't afford new gear after being robbed of their gear.
