Bass string: fiber wrap/spiral on bridge?

Bought a set of rotosounds for my Fender Jazz. Scale measures 34.5" for C-standard to intonate right on mine. I've never had a string have the spiral winding and wrapping sit on the bridge saddle.

Any input on this?

Rotosound got back to me quick. Looks like it's a non issue and I've been informed wrong for some time!

"The saddle is far enough back on the bridge that it very close to the ball end and is getting into the silk. If you feel it is affecting the tone you can remove a little of the silk where it meets the saddle, but in this case scale length doesn’t contribute to the issue as you’ve got an inch or so of silk between the ball end and the winding of the string regardless of what scale you were to purchase.

Rotosound Jazz Bass 77’s have set the standard for flat wounds on Fender basses since the 60’s and have always been made the same way, however each bass is different and it is not uncommon to have silk come into contact with the bridge saddle or nut on occasion. From an engineering perspective there is no issue, however from an artistic standpoint if you find a difference in the tone removing a bit of silk does not hurt the integrity of the string in any way."

I would definately remove some. I feel it would dampen the string and take away some of the resonance on the string and rob you of some sustain.
