Planning my next kit builds! Rams Head & Ezekiel 25-17

Building a Rams Head kit is no brainer. You can never have too many Muff type pedals. But the Ezekiel 25-17 I don't know a lot about. The missus wants to buy me the kit as a late birthday present. I haven't played one before but I love the demos I've heard. I want it mainly because it's a nasty versitile dirt pedal but mainly because it has a blend and I want to use it for bass. Are they as good as the hype? Do they work ok on bass as well as guitar?

Dude the 'No Diodes' or 'Furious Anger' setting kills on bass. Kills! The other settings are all good too, but I like the no diodes so much that I don't often use the other choices.

What are the other settings called? I'm thinking Great Vengance (fuzz) has to be one of the other settings. What are the distortion and overdrive called?

Forget IT on Guitar - not really great.
On bass it slays.

Ah whoops! I have one of the newer ones and it just lists the diodes; germanium, silicon, led, no diodes. I just looked at an original one and its settings are listed as overdrive, distortion, furious anger, great vengeance. So for clarity, the setting I love is no diodes/great vengeance. Furious anger is LED and it sounds bad ass too. Really there are tons of awesome dirt sounds in the Zeke but I tend to find a sound I like and then stop tweaking, with my dirts.

Yeah that's no dramas. Got heaps of guitar dirt and fuzz. Looking to fill out my bass dirt now. Working with guitar is just a bonus. Though I love to stack so I'm sure I'll find a use for it on guitar stacked with something. Especially with the blend control, I can probably pass a dirty signal through it and have a layer of the Ezekiel hovering on top.

Probably even get something out of it on vocals too. I play noise rock so really anything goes, even if it's wierd.

I love to tweak, I find there is no fun unless you don't tweak it and when you run out of options, you stack it with another dirt and begin tweaking all over again.
Those names for the settings are cool. Great Vengance and Furious Anger. Just sounds so evil

I'm going to have to come up with better names for the Ge and Si settings though.

The guy who inspired the Ezekiel went by the name of Toasted over on Talkbass a million years ago, and he was hilarious.

Well after all this feedback I'm definately getting it and will most definitely love it. Building it and playing it.
Thanks for all the input guys

The advice and opinions of the ILF mob is the most valuable and honest as far as I'm concerned.

Late to the party, but hell yes the Ezekiel slays on bass. I have a DannDubblewe-built one, and it sounds massive. Enjoy!

Finished the build earlier this morning. Works great and sounds awesome even on guitar. Haven't tried it on bass yet. Need a new battery for my bass. Fucking active systems. Thanks for all your feedback guys.

ezekiel is kinda a rat with different diode options, inc the "no diodes" (loudest / least clipped) mode
it works great on bass because of the clean blend
