I never been a Muff type of guy, but these day I’m looking for something heavyer, with some punch and low end (but not for metal).
Which would be better Wren & Cuff Tall Font Russian or Blackout Effectors Blunderbuss… other suggestions?

I tried a Musket, the Civil War velvety fuzz is not my thing. I want something that has punch.

I haven't tried those two but the Danelectro Cool cat Fuzz v1 is the punchiest I have played.

Megalith or other Mountainking. It's the Muff for people who don't like Muff, since the circuit is distinct.

I haven't tried one yet, but the Joe Gore Duh pedal is kinda of the same concept, trying to get a Muff-ish big fuzz sound out of a pedal that isn't a Muff and is a bit more open/responsive.

LSTR? I really liked mine when I had it, lots of low end and high gain without being metal-y. Compared to the Musket it's much more "open" sounding, less tight and more rawk.

Love my LSTR, you can dial out the muddiness you get with so many muffs.

These days I think Gore has contracted out for somebody to build 'em for him.

I really dislike(d) Muff like pedals just like you Syl, tried quite a few EHX (old and new), Musket, LSTR, all shit in my opinion, weak, no punch and no balls.
The only really great Muff like pedals I played so far are the Emanating Fist 6618, Hoof and Pharaoh.
I'd suggest the Pharaoh, I think it's the heaviest and most punchy, plus it sounds great paired with different pedals, amps and guitars, it sounds great on low gain, you can basically always find a use for it, I think there's still one in the B/S/T right now.
The 6618 and Hoof are a little more basic Muff, a little more fuzzy maybe (especially the 6618), if you're looking for that sound I'd suggest one of those, I think there's still a 6618 in the B/S/T right now, great value since it's about as good as it gets.
That Duh sounds pretty nice in that video, but seriously, only a master volume control, they could have left that off too, not that much variety, in my opinion the 6618 can do those sounds too and more.

I love my Hail Satan Muff, the added LED gain stage and mid control really adds some balls.

The Skreddy Ernie is an incredibly tight, punchy muff.

Let me say I don't have a traditional muff. The closest things to normal muff I've played are ehx Metal Muff and Devi Hyperion.

HOWEVER, Hoof is the way to go. It is the best starting point and EQD is rad. More Specifically, it is a Hybrid Silicon/Germanium and has 4 knobs. A little more than typical muff clones (like wren & cuff or DAM/Eminating Fist) so more control, but not nearly as many as Blackout's offerings or the Pharoah's additional switches so ease of use.
