I've never had a scrambler, i kept meaning to get one of the re-issues while they were fresh, but that ship sailed though.
so who makes the best clone of it? or is there anything that takes the scrambler to another level?

I've got a Frederik Effects Scrambled Brainz and like it a lot. It's "improved" and it has a clean blend, so that suits me as a bass player. I never had the real thing though, so I don't know how it compares. They are £90 new: http://www.fredric.co.uk/scrambled-brai ... bler-clone

But he puts them up regularly on evilbay with a £1 starting price like this one right now.

That's how I got mine pretty cheap.

Yes, the pink elephant is the best. I don't think the scrambler is useful without a master volume.

Maxon makes one now in their Elements Fuzz series

They're all generally solid, it's been cloned successfully for a long time. I had an original and RI, and a 90s homemade PCB board build that somebody made for me a few years back.

I kept the homemade model, it captured the entirety of the sound of both the RI and the original and just went meaner at the furthest end of the dial.

Any of them *should* have blend - it's a stock feature of the pedal.

Be aware that if you don't get a model with an output level, it becomes a beast to tame sometimes (mine doesn't, but I accept it as what it is and learned to play on a real one that didn't have such controls!)

Funny that you say that, I built a Scrambler clone from the BYOC kit (without a master/volume pot) and it tends to be at unity gain when it's first in my chain. I'm considering building a second Scrambler that does have an output volume control so I can slightly boost the signal as I'm planning to use it later in my chain, after my whammy, eventually.

It all depends on the mix and fuzz dial whether it goes to ballisticland or stays approx. unity - but I have it later in the chain typically (with the blend, it makes it a great stacking toy with some other oddities in front).

I kinda wish my Green Ringer had a blend.

I've been on the fence about when and how to let this cat out of the bag.

This thread seems to be an appropriate place: http://metalstringsound.com/collections ... osmic-fuzz

I'm really excited about the Rabbit Hole FX Chaosmic Fuzz and I'm looking forward to the music people make with it once it's been released! Cheers! :!!!:

I have one built by Magic Pedals that is really good. I have ignored that circuit for far too long.

I just finished building a modded kit version Scrambler. 4 knobs of filthy octave awesomeness. Has standard controls plus boosted master volume and external octave control. Haven't had the chance to play it at extreme volume yet. Everyone else is in bed. But everything is working as it should and sounds awesome at bedroom volume.

Well, there you go then!

It sounds stupid good at any volume typically - I've used mine from light conversational room levels to knock things off the walls.
