dont get me wrong, I love it for what it is.
but I also really dislike how nazi it is, I hate itunes but nothing else that looks even semi-decent will run on mac, I don't like feeling so closed in with apps if you know what I mean, I still have a hard time (after 2 years) dealing with Pages and Word isn't too helpful either (with word it seems like the focused to much on making it look better than its Windows counterpart and in turn made everything harder to find and use), I never use most of the things I paid for...actually I really just use garage band and um....imovie sometimes... :idk:..dont get me wrong the whole ilife package thang is cool! ....if you're gonna use it all...which I dont...

so right now I'm starting to look for a new laptop, windows based...
I'll probably run a few different programs to do music with (ableton, reason and maybe protools if i can get a copy fo'cheap or free. and whatever else comes my way)

...
any suggestions? I really don't wanna spend too much ($500-$700 is the ideal, but i do realize I've spent more than that on this forum alone  )

I got a Dell Inspiron 1525 with a dual-core cpu last fall for about 550 from their website. I run cubase and goldwave on it for music stuff, and it handles it all pretty well.

check Micro center

http://www.microcenter.com/

I got my Toshiba there at a really good price.
Also their refurbished deals are some times sweet

Also check out Toshiba direct.
