This is excellent news. It's time for some rational drug policy in this country.
I was especially pleased by:
the administration has called for an end to the disparity in how crimes involving crack cocaine and powder cocaine are dealt with
i.e. let's fix one of the most massive racial injustices in our modern legal system.

That's great news.
The drug stigma in this country needs to be removed. Now, the next step is research, honest research. Then, after they (hopefully) find some drugs harmless, legalization can begin...

The law enforcement lobbies will never let this happen. They (the police/fbi/coast guard) get way too much government money for interdiction. They'll never give it over to health care.
