SC sized pickup for Blackgaze?

One of my good friends and former bandmate wrote and recorded some really awesome black metal with some deafheaven influence (Ghost Bath, he's kind of secretive, maybe I'm not supposed to say anything) and he asked if I would be willing to be in his backing band. I obviously agreed but I don't really have a guitar that is metal ready. I don't want to buy a new guitar, but I would like to hotrod my Jay Turser MG-2 (Mustang-y w/ floating trem).
I was thinking a rail humbucker but I would like a second opinion from people who might be doing something roughly like this currently. I'm probably gonna use a combination of my DSL2000 and a Rat (with delay and reverb, whatever that's not as important), but as is my guitar definitely doesn't have the right tonality as is.
I'm torn between the Dimarzio Super Distortion S and the Seymour Duncan Hotrails. What would you do in my situation?

Put in loud pickup and wire it straight to the output jack so it's even louder.

I do something very similar to this except with a hardcore influence thrown in on bass Vi, and I've been looking into the Lace Alumitones, the super distortion is another good idea, as is just throwing a loud pickup in and playing.

I like the term blackgaze. I regretfully have no pickup advice, but I like deafheaven and never know what to call them. They're one of a few instances of hearing something and my mind blowing up of ideas to play. Good luck and post some stuff when it's recorded!

Well he has recorded some material already, he's kind of blowing up right now. Anyway, here's a link:

i would probably go for the alumitone, just to try something new.. they're supposed to be really wide and hifi sounding. maybe the alumitone and an EQ to shape it before hitting the rest of the mess.
or maybe invest in a second guitar? you can build a partscaster VERY cheaply... get an epiphone and put some seymour duncan black winters in there...!

I've got second and third and fourth guitars haha, I just thought the MG2 would be good because of the floating trem and the ability to make sweet 'gaze wobbles. I always forget about my Gretsch Corvette because it's at my parents house. It would probably do the job on its own. I still kind of want to beef up my 'stang though.

I have had great success with a hot rails in the the bridge of my strat
it is a duncan designed too, pulled it out of the middle position of my esp a long time ago
Love it, played metal with it for years like that and it is a beast
I think any humbucker would help

Yeah, the whole China thing is kind of a rumor that he decided to run with. His first recording was put out by a Chinese label, so all the BM reviewers assumed that Ghost Bath was a Chinese band. He thought it was funny and went with it. We're from North Dakota
Don't let word get out though, this is a secret for my ILF brothers.
