Always loved the Jazzmaster body. Thinking of building a custom Jazzy. I have a friend who builds also considering Warmoth. Trying to sell a First Act Sheena first. Post any custom build you've done. Also any thoughts on Warmoth?

Built this from Warmoth and Fender parts. SD Antiquity II pups. Love it. It has got an ILF-sticker over that ugly ass Fender logo now.

I know lots of other people love and swear by them - I'm not one of those people. Nothing but bad experiences. Custom order gone wrong, when I didn't know enough to know better. Off the shelf orders gone wrong, slow, and late. Poor customer service.

Wouldn't buy from them again. Would only use their parts again if I could a) inspect them in person before purchase, b) could buy from some one/place with a fair return policy, c) were cheap, d) nothing else was available, and e) there was a gun to my head.

Fuck em. Fuck em in the ear.

i used to be under the impression that warmoth was great, but more and more stories come out like doommeow's .... i'd be wary of them because of it (i've never ordered more than a pickguard from them and it was fine). it seems like it's usually great but when it goes wrong, it goes VERY wrong.

I have heard mixed feelings on Warmoth myself, but I have played a Warmoth guitar that was pretty good quality. I am also looking into MJT.

Goddamn Kosta, that thing is ridiculously awesome.

I had great luck with a MJT body, Musikraft Neck. Neck was a huge V-C profile, vintage frets, ebony board. Shipped to MJT match the body finish. Novak WRHB's for Jazzmasters absolutely rip. Mastery Tremolo is fucking ridiculous. So sustain. Much awesome. Every JM enthusiast should have a guitar with those PU's and Mastery in it. This guitar is whisper quiet, and still sounds remarkably like a JM, if a little bigger and ballsier...

Here's the build thread:

Warmoth does some odd stuff like shifting things here and there, not perfect match for pick guards, etc. I am bummed that they are the only ones with bound and block necks, but their proportions are off on the blocks. Would love to get a B&B or D&B neck for another build. Guitar Mill makes them, but you have to reshape the headstock. I would go with MJT, or Guitar Mill + Musikraft neck. Some of the guys on here have had luck with some of the other bodies available on Ebay. OSG is probably a good site for you to be checking out, as well. So much offset knowledge. You'll recognize a lot of folks from here as well.

I have a "Jazzbastard" that was put together by Aryeh East of East guitars.
He made it out of MJT parts with an MJT relic finish, and it's the best playing and sounding Jazzy I've ever had the joy of nodding around on, and we've had quite a few pre CBS offsets come through our shop.
I second the MJT. It just feels like an old friend.

As black as my soul with a headstock to match! :!!!:
The thin nitro is starting to wear hard from picking behind the bridge, so it's got some white primer showing underneath.
All the more reason to get a body from MJT! It just looks cool! :yay:
It was built by Aryeh, who was a tech at Chigago Music Exchange, when he couldn't find a vintage jazzmaster in a lefty. He had Fralin wind some pickups based of his friend's 63 jazzy.
I've got another Japanese Jazzy that I'm planing to rebuild soon, so I'll be paying close attention to this thread. :snax:
