How different is the LSTR from a Bluebeard? The LSTR seems to be a bit more versatile with the two tone controls but the clips i have heard of the LSTR sound very similar to my bluebeard...has anyone tried both and can comment?

I don't have a Blue Beard, but I do have a V7 ed 3 Green Army Muff I've compared it to. The LSTR is richer sounding, and more flexible, the Green Army is ruder sounding and a bit more limited.

I'm also interested in this comparison. I haven't tried an LSTR yet, but I must admit that the Bluebeard is one of the most versatile muffs I've ever used. I had tons of other muffs, original Ram's Heads, Tall Fronts, Pharaoh, Badascan, Staches,Colliders, etc., but nothing has beaten the BB. Maybe it hasn't so much output volume than the Doomroom Badascan I had or an ECT, but the way it always sounds good with every instrument... Great tone control, great clarity and great distinctive sound when stacked with other pedals. I own a standard 3-knobs, but 've just ordered the new one with a tone bypass switch.

I dunno, I have uni's LSTR here but I think it sounds weak in comparison to his Pharaoh I have here too, just too little punch or attack.
Played his EFE DP-01 as well and if you're looking for a great pure Muff that's what I'd suggest, it sounds incredible.

I've been intrigued by this, have you had the chance to compare it to the dope priest? Ive been on the fence about that for quite some time cause i don't really need another big muff, but I really like how heavy and doomy the lucifer rising and black acid/dust are for a tone bender and fuzz face.

Dope Priest is great too.
To be honest, for the money I'd go for a Pharaoh, it almost gets there and beyond.
The Pharaoh, DP-01 and Dope Priest are all like kinda on the border of woolly muffy fuzzyness combined with this tight punch and attack, which makes them so much more heavy than lets say a Musket or LSTR in my opinion.

Tris, LSTR is in comparison to the Pharao kind of underwhelming. But it is nice for compressed high gain riffing.

I've actually taken to using my LSTR more like a fuzz/boost, with the Fuzz on 0, the Volume @ 3/4 or above, and the Scoop and Tone knobs both set pretty high (I'll play with the balance on these a lot for different textures). The LSTR is capable of plenty of punch, but maxing it's considerable amount of fuzz and low end will definitely cause it to get mushy/indistinct.

I had a pharaoh and in my opinion it sucked on bass.

How so, specifically? What did it lack that you're looking for?

on lower notes it would compress really badly to the point where the volume would drop out completely. It also sounded too loose and farty for me. There were some good tones in there but not enough for me to keep it. I know a few people who use one on bass and love it but it just wasn't for me.

Sounds like you had the GE diodes engaged eh? I could see a germ. muff getting really blatty and compressed on the lows. The hard silicon edge seems like it would work better for bass in most cases.

I actually love my Pharoah loads more than the Dope Priest I had. Pharoah was better for all uses imo.

I tried a Pharaoh and I didn't like it nearly as much as the Bluebeard.
Haven't tried an LSTR though.

i tried all combinations, same result in all cases. It was ok if the fuzz was dialed way back but as soon as the gain was increased it just fell apart. Even sent it back to Mark to see if there was anything wrong with it, and there wasn't.
