Berhinger UFX 1204 mixer/multi track recorder

So I'd like to have a mixer with the ability to record directly from the board. The UFX 1204 records all 12 tracks separately and a main stereo mix, plus the price point seems pretty sweet. The reason a mixer with recording capabilities is more attractive to me than say a multitrack recorder is because I'd like to have the EQing option at my disposal to tweak live, and I dont need a ton of tracks/woukd like to keep the unit small.

Does anyone have experience with this unit? Or suggest a similar piece of gear?

Thanks yall

I haven't used that particular unit, but most of my originals have been recorded through an older Behringer Xenyx 1204, and I'm very happy with it. I also have the little Xenyx 502 for fucking around at home. Behringer may have a shit reputation in the gear world, but their mixers are great.

just from my experience, if ur gunna wanna use the usb track recorder thing to record stuff u do on the mixer. please make sure that the USB is POST fader/fx/eq, all that jazz.

or u will just be recording PRE fader/fx/eq. which is cool if u want to take the files and put them into a computer or something for processing. but kinda kills the inclusiveness of the device.

i tried to look it up, but there doesn't seem to be a manual on this baby?

Yeah theres no manual at all which is kinda weird haha. But yeah you can choose pre or post for recording purposes.

I'm really just looking to record the main stereo mix but it will give me individual track recordings too which could be cool.

Interesting, will have to do some research on those.

I got outbid on one of the Berhingers last night, I should have put in a higher max bid

Yeah I did look into that one. It would give me the end goal of recording but I wouldn't be able to tweak eq/panning/etc on the fly.

I might just go the cheaper route and get a field recorder to record stereo line in of the overal mix and keep my Mackie. I would miss out on some nice flexibility and, equally important, dem sliders.
