fuzz that can do both octave up or down

I prtetty much decided what to put in the empty space on my board. I had a thread going, but instead of miliking that I wanted to get the attention of the fuzz octave experts here. A subject I know virtually nothing about.

I was looking for a used EHX Pitch fork, which'll obviously work with any of my dirt peds, but I figured it makes sense to check here first. For all I know there's something similar out there with a build in fuzz. It can't cost a lot more that the Picth Fork though, or be a lot bigger. Besides that I'd want fast tracking, and a level control and/or switch for the fuzz.

If it doesn't exist: Someone please make it. Top mount jacks and clean out please. Thank you.

Don't expect to find a great deal just because it's used, though: they're sold out in many places.

I don't know anything that tracks as well as the ehx digital octave pedals.

Would you take pitchfork over a bass whammy?

Earthquaker Devices Pitch Bay would be the only other one I'd check out.

Never tried it, but the MI Audio Pollyanna seems great.

Beside bit Commander and polyanna:
Second voice V1 rules for me.

Thanks!

Silly noob side question: Are there even any advantages to having an octave pedal with build in fuzz, besides just getting the most out of the available board space? Cause as an octave pedal, nothing seems to beat the specs of the pitch fork, especially in such as small enclosure. So I guess it's unlikely that anyone else builds something equally good AND adds a decent fuzz to the deal...Right :idk:

Hmm, i like the character of the built in fuzzes. Second voice fuzz could be a decent stand alone pedal to me. And the fuzz just seems right.
I never thought about clean octave pedals and then adding the fuzz though.

It's just that besides my amp's second channel, I have 3 different dirt pedals on my board that I don't plan on ditching. So anyt extra dirt would obviously be sweet, but in this case it probably makes more sense to focus on getting the best octave/pitch pedal for my money. 3 octaves/down, with all those other gizmos and tricks, that looks very tempting for the two piece bass/drums noise band I hope on getting together :)

So at this point it's gonna be hard to convince me to seriously look at anything else that's bigger or pricier or doesn't have as much range as the EHX...:idk:

The sound of an octave pedal and a fuzz is not really going to sound like an octave fuzz. There's a certian scrambled, almost whirring quality to octave up fuzzes, and octave down fuzzes are prone to do the sub octave glitch things (which octave up fuzzes can also do). Which some pitch shifters can do but the Pitchfork is far more clean than that.

If you simply want the pitch shifting then keep on keepin on. But if you're after the texture of an octave fuzz, maybe branch out by looking at varients of the superfuzz, tone machine, blue box, or the infanem second voice/harmony synth.

^Ok, now I'm not that sure anymore if I want a versatile pitch shifter, or an octave up/down fuzz with it's own gnarly voicing :s

Because of the size&price thing, it's still hard to NOT go with a pitchfork and try it with my fuzz pedals. My FZ-2 and Mastotron can both kinda do a faux octave thing, so I'd be curious to try wether running em through the pitchfork would end up in a scrambly mess or in something filthy and interesting :)
